Whatever happened to Ryan Mason's development? He seemed a top talent a few years back but hardly hear anything about him anymore.

We paid 1m for this guy, 2.5m for Bostock - it simply highlights that a 16 year old can not justify these price tags.

Been pretty unlucky IMO. Currently on loan in France and has been getting no game time so a complete waste of time-would have been better off staying at Spurs and playing with the U21s

See comments in Ryan Mason loan thread.

Very possible he will also go this summer.

Played well for their u21's last night, review is very complimentary http://hltco.org/2013/04/30/crystal-palace-u21s-0-1-bolton-wanderers-report-analysis/
Shame as he did well in the u21's this season, but he's 21 now and would need a squad place to play, plus Spurs have a number of good youngsters playing in similar positions coming through.

Do you know if the reports about him having a bad attitude are true SI? That was one of the reasons for his loan at Swindon ending early apparently, so maybe also a factor in why we too let him go?

Rumours only - not sure how true they are at all.

Think it more likely that he's not tried as hard at Spurs to become a top player as he might (shades of thinking that he's already established as a player after being transferred from QPR at a young age). But it could be argued that he's been a tad unlucky with some loans (some for no real fault of his own like Yeovil where they took on too many loanees) and injuries.

The real reason for his release I suspect is that he's aged 21 (so needs to be registered in the 25 man squad to play) and has not shown as much development as a player as he might have ben expected (despite doing well for Spurs u 21's this season) and there are a lot of good CM/AM's coming through the youth system (eg Carroll, Luongo, Pritchard, Bentelab et al) all of whom can play in positions that Parrett could occupy and possibly could become even better players than Parrett - and we can only bring so many into the first team from the youth set up.

It highlights how fans get over-optimistic with youth players and translated that into our prospects being a "golden generation".

I said that on another board that at best one or two of the prospects in there would have PL careers. Caulker seems he will have, Townsend looks fairly likely and Livermore will have a few years(Livermore wasn't a player ever mentioned). I am surprised Adam Smith hasn't flourished as I expected.

"Golden Generation"???, first Ive heard anyone use that term. Parrett has never been over-hyped, it was clear to most that he wasnt really progressing over the last 2 years.

I'm summarising the expectation that several of the youth players would gravitate to PL careers.

Principally: Caulker, Mason, Parrett, Townsend, Bostock, Obika, Kane

Not everybody can make it with us, maybe he can find a way to secure his career.

These are the interesting boys atm:
Vejlkovic, Bentaleb, Coulthirst, McEvoy, Pritchard, (Luongo, Fryers, Kane)

Yep. Tom Carroll is the latest one people are pinning their hopes on and putting pressure on to become a regular. I can't see the lad making it in the PL.

We will be doing well to produce one Tottenham starting 11 stalwart every 4-5 years, let alone have 5 or 6 come through at once.
