It's not my money so just wish we'd bite the bullet on it. Think he'd bag a ton in the conference league, a decent amount in the Prem and love the fact that he's PL proven. Our last how many strikers haven't been. He also works extremely hard for the team, could be a b version of Bale on the wing but the ability to press more often.

Also if we do sell Harry next summer then he can become the focal point for a year and hopefully in two seasons time Scarlett/Parrott will be ready to make the step up as his contract winds down. Perfect stop gap in my opinion.

He's such a good all round striker, we'd be mad not to do the deal. 25 or so would still be a bargain for what he'd bring.

Age only sucks because of lack of re-sale value but his experience could help us get into CL and way more money anyway. If we get him he will make us better, if he stays healthy.

It's always a risk putting money into players hoping the financial benefit will come from footballing success rather than resale value.

There was a time we regularly sold our players at a profit.

It's good that we are being linked to younger players but we'll need a few experienced players along the way.

Absolutely the sort of striker we need to be bringing in however I am of the opinion one of the bigger clubs will snap him up to cover homegrown issues and then just leave him to rot.

Not putting my balls on the line but I would be pretty confident Danny will be our player by the end of this window. Will we pay the £20-25m that Southampton want?!.....I don't think so no due to his contract situation and age and as has been stated, that is what we were willing to pay a year ago so I think we would be looking to do a deal around the £15m mark personally. Now I don't think Southampton would accept that so there will have to be a compromise from both sides.

Not an easy deal to do due to the difference in valuation but I think with Paratici leading the negotiations, we stand a far better chance getting him than if Levy was leading them.

Anyway putting all of that to one side, as I have stated, I think he will be our player.

ahhhh another player transfer thread, another list of worries about the finances of it for the club....

He improves the squad/11. proven prem goalscorer. bite the bullet and pay up.

hope @Hotspur88 is correct, fingers crossed.

A player like Ings makes all the difference to a club like ours come the end of the season. £25m would be very good business. Also a good benchmark for Scarlett and Parrott to work by in their development.

I think this would be a very smart transfer.
Assuming we keep Kane we have someone who can replace Kane either to give him a rest or when he gets his inevitable ankle strain. It also gives us the option of playing two up top against some teams or when needing to chase a game

I do think this makes a lot of sense if we can get it done relatively quickly because it protects us in pretty much all scenarios.

1) We keep Kane, Ings can play with him or give him some rest. Think Kane benefitted a lot from Vinicius just meaning he didn’t have to play in Europa. Ings is obviously a level better than that.

2) We sell Kane this summer. We’d then need another striker but wouldn’t be over a barrel from whoever we are trying to buy from because we can always say we already have Ings, we aren’t desperate.

3) We sell Kane next summer. Ings is bedded in as an experienced striker and we can go and buy whoever the best young talent is on the market at that point. Probably the ideal scenario for me.

I'd be very happy with Ings if we can strike a deal with Southampton (easier said than done as they really seem to dislike us :ROFLMAO: )

Proven PL goalscorer, capable of creating his own chances, can play in a 2 or a 3 man attack.

Main downsides are his age and injury record, but with high hopes at the club for Scarlett coming through in the next 2-3 years he's probably the ideal profile really.

Also stops him scoring against us which he always seems to do!

Must admit, whenever I've seen him before I've always thought he was a Spurs style player. He has a bit of style about him, reminds me a bit of Robbie Keane.

Would like us to sign him and keep Kane but if Kane is off then obviously we need another striker and a decent one at that because of Ings injury record.

Isn’t the injury thing a fallacy? Hasn’t Kane missed more games over the past couple of years due to injury? I’m sure someone did the research.

maybe but we are tottenham so you know if Ings joins he would probably be injured for months...

Don't care if it's 20, 25, 30 for this deal. Every couple seasons we make a signing from another PL club, and although usually not overly flashy, or met with opposition sometimes, but a lot of the time it works out well for us. Hojbjerg, Wanyama, Davies, Trippier, Toby (Athletico I know) all came in cheaper deals and have proven more than their value.

The best part about this deal would be you know what you're getting and he will need no adjustment period, just plug him in. No doubt he would have 10-20 goals in all comps over the next few seasons.

Ings would be an excellent signing, he has proved himself to be (when fit) one of the best strikers in the league.

Hope we hurry up with this one because you just know Chelsea will be there to shit on us when they inevitably don't get Haaland.

They are desperate for a striker and there isn't a lot of quality ones available right now.

He's a good player there is no doubt, averages 30 games a season in his 3 full terms at S'oton despite his reputation, I'd be willing to take a punt but it is a bit bargain basement, needs must though, needs must..............

I don't think it's bargain basement. £20m+ on a player signing one of his last contracts with little sell-on is a reasonable fee. PLus his salary will likely be reasonably high.

This would be a good quality signing and potential injuries aside a pretty safe bet.
