The article :
"French U20 international, Damien Dussaut will soon leave Valenciennes (in bankrupt, relegated in 4th division). According to our informations, the young 19 years-old right back (13 games with the reserve in 5th division this season) is in Tottenham's sight, which discusses with him since thursday."

Thanks for created the post, I was too lazy to do it. No idea who this guy is.

So we're looking at a guy who plays in the 5th division of French football? Do I have that correct? If true, there's no way we're looking at this kid for the first team.

Valenciennes was in Ligue 1 this year, they finished 19th and got relegated. They have some money problems so the DNCG (the institution which deals with that) relegated them in CFA (4th division).

He was playing with their reserve which are in CFA2 (5th division). Reserves teams can't be higher than CFA (4th division) in France.

... so yeah basically you're right.

Did he see any game time with the first team?

I don't think so.

I just checked on this "U20 international" thing because I thought it was odd I never heard of him : he has 3 selections, 2 in U19 and 1 in U20.

Doesn't sound like a link they'd make up, and aren't L'Equipe pretty reliable (or so I'm told)?

Interesting nonetheless

Gotcha. Can I ask, are you French and/or follow French football? You made a comment in the Rodriguez threat that would also imply your knowledge of that league.

And if so, are there any players there you'd recommend for left back? It seems to me folks tend to find some rather underrated fullbacks in that league, and I just don't pay it enough attention to know of any.

I'm french, yes. The 3 best left back in France are probably Maxwell, Kurzawa and Bedimo (and Digne but he doesn't play that much). Personally, my favorite is Bedimo but he has to confirm (he had one really good season with Montpellier when they were champions, then one bad season, and this year he was really good at Lyon).
Souaré is pretty good too.

Excellent, much appreciated. Do you think any of them would be A) realistic and B) applicative to Poch's tactics?

Maxwell and Kurzawa wouldn't be realistic (Kurzawa plays for Monaco since he's 15, they have big plans and he's a starter - Maxwell plays for PSG).

As for the others :
Bedimo is excellent going forward, he's not just fast, he's a good passer and dribbler.
Souaré is a more defensive choice, not as good offensively but very solid defensively. He scored a few goals this year on corners, very good in the air.

Souaré is younger (24 vs 30) too

The u21's are short of defenders, so if Damien Dussaut doesn't fancy staying and playing in the French 4th division, and is a decent youth propspect then if he's available free or on a small fee he might be a decent punt for Spurs.

1 cap for Frencg u20's and listed as a Left back/left nidfield so presumeably an attacking French LB, so might be the right fit foir Spurs. If it doesn't work out we move him on
