Curious to see our approach at CM. If we can’t move anyone on, do we still prepare for the summer and sign and loan back a player like Frendrup or Vermeeren (or a Championship player like Wharton)?

I think it is one more 6/8 to rotate with Sarr, Biss and Bents who are all able to play both roles. Maddison is the 10 and he can rotate with Kulu. Personally i'd like us to take a punt on a talent like Ezequiel Fernández from under Liverpools noses and cheap. He'd be the 6 but is good on the ball, that said I appreciate the need for a HG player to replace PEH and definately if they replace Skipp. Personally Gallagher is too expensive and i dont think his quality takes us to the next level.
Fernández looks like a class player

I’m sure I’m in a minority but I’d certainly take that. I honestly think he’d be brilliant for us.
with you on this one. big fan of his style and believe he'd be an excellent fit to our style of play.

it would always take an hefty amount for Chelsea to part with one of their most consistent performers, a weekly feature in the starting XI and a good leadership figure.

I could see this. Depending on budgets, if we can’t get our top tier option, some sort of young player for the longer term would make a lot of sense, especially with some of the links. All feels like progress to me.

I am not in favour of helping Chelsea get around FFP by selling club trained players to gain maximum profit. This allows them to go and splash out on a striker or Todibo this window.. Please guys let this make sense.. This guy is not so amazing that we need to be desperate for him and get Chelsea out of a hole in the process.. surely we are not as stupid as Arsenal and Man Utd..

Chelsea must be desperate with FFP. Multiple times now well connected journalists have reported Chelsea considering the sale and now a price tag as well. Translated it might as well be ‘please someone buy him or our FFP is fu*ked’. Crazy thing is he is a loved played at the club, the fans like him, Poch seems to love him but Boehly needs him out the door.

£45m up front plus minimum £10m in add-ons is quite lumpy considering he’s entering the final 12 months of his contract come the summer…..

In their defence his performances have been mostly good, I could see Levy asking for £50-60m easily for Gallagher. It’s their desperation to sell a top performing player for FFP that shows how poorly that club is run.

Think about Levy desperately trying to sell Maddison or Romero to Arsenal, that is close to what this is.

Have to be honest and when I look at our midfield options (even with PEH leaving) it looks like this:

6 - Bissouma & Skipp
8 - Bentancur & Sarr & Lo Celso
10 - Maddison & Kuluševski & Donley

I’m not entirely sure we are in desperate need for another midfielder. The above can all change positions as well if needed.

If we can get Vemeeren then I’d be all for it as he looks to be a superb talent but with the likes of Devine, Kyerematen and Hall all doing very well at their respective progression I’m not sure we are really in need of another midfielder in the mould of Gallagher.

I mean it’s a big if but if that’s their price you’d think we could potentially shave a few mil off that. I’ve always thought £35-£40 is a fair price for him with 18 months left so £45 is not unreasonable imo.

I’m not a massive fan but I don’t dislike him either. By most accounts he sounded like Ange’s number one target as well so that alone is worth pushing the boat out a bit. Having said that I can’t see this happening at all this window.

Long-term - Skipp is not good enough to get significant minutes, and we should not count Kulusevski as a CM - if we are relying on him to be the primary RW.

I'd say it looks more like this:

6 - Bentancur & Bissouma
8 - Sarr & __________
10 - Maddison & Lo Celso & Donely

So, this summer we need an 8 - a box-to-box who can compete with Sarr, or if you like Bentancur in that role, a 6 to compete for a starting role.

We then have to decide what we are doing with Lo Celso - either upgrade or extend.

I don’t particularly want him but it could be worth it just for the melt down from their fans 🤭,
but not for that sort of money

All depends on how realistic that price is and how it compares to likely offers in the summer.
They may well be using Mount as a benchmark as he went for £60m with 12 months left on his deal. Although that was batshit mental on United’s behalf.
