As soon as we heard the numbers our interest dropped. As a bit part squad player on a decent(not crazy) wage structure it was worth looking at. Some of you won't like to hear it and probably doubt it's validity(due to his previous club status), despite me posting it a while back, but that is all he was ever seen as by Conte and FP. Was never seen as an option we were desperate to bring in.

Yeah it has never felt that he was a priority at all and I wasn't surprised we didn't go for him in the end. I think he will do well for them though, they have wanted him for years and he will want to prove himself again. He was on huge wages at Inter, so seeing he was looking for north of £200k a week it seemed to rich for us. Then those figures were posted by Wiskah and now it sounds like he is getting £300k a week. We've got the new stadium, but we cant pay that out for another player. Especially if they don't play every game.

You can be on board with backing Conte but be gutted on a personal level that he’s not coming, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.
You can(and I'm not accusing you here) but I've read a number of posts pointing out how stupid a decision this is, and how it was a no brainer to bring him back despite having zero clue to what Conte's plans actually are.

I like him as a player, love what he did for us in his previous term here. I understand though there is a reason for literally everything Conte does, and the truth is he was never really that keen.

If we want to get Kane to sign a new deal I think we can and will offer more than that.

With the forward players we now have and the CM not being one I can see Conte using him there, it was how I seen him if he came here also.

Plus I would have not liked to see him go through a pre season with Conte, I would be worried each day for him!

Yeah if Eriksen is on £300k a week then no way would we give him that.

If Kane does sign a new deal, I'm guessing he would be on around £350k a week which is what Salah's new contract is.

I am 100% OK with this-love him as a player and would equally have loved him back. I don’t think UTD are anything much to worry about at this stage with him joining and if AC doesn’t see him in his plans then we should all be OK with this. As for him (allegedly) going for the money-so what? The guy practically died and if he wants to get as much money as he can get who can blame him. As long as he is happy with his decision for him and his family that’s all any of us should wish for him.

Eriksen's story gave football a little bit of a glow, a fairy tale that we could all feel good about. Just seeing him play for Brentford felt special, the idea of him being back at Spurs made perfect sense.

Unfortunately, him going to United just brings everything back to the ground and reminds you of what a stinking mess football is in, he's going there for the money and nothing more.

Surely he will want to play at the highest level he can for his final few seasons. Is that fighting relegation and Brentford, or Europa league and Man Utd?

1. European football.
2. Prestige of playing for huge club like Man Utd (compared to Brentford. And yes they're not what they used to be but it's still a draw).
3. Linking up with Ajax connection in ETH.

Maybe CL isn't the promised land for Eriksen anymore but to go to a Europa League side, just says money to me, compare that to Ronaldo saying he has never played in the Europa league in his career and feels he has 3-4 years left to play at the top.
Plus he would cost £50M over 3 years

It’ll certainly be interesting to see what Ten Haag is planning what with the rumours of Ron wanting out, which I think would really help them and get Rashford back up top.
They must be looking to bring in an enforcer in the middle though as I don’t see how you play Eriksen and Fernandes in the same XI.

I'm not that bothered. I wasn't that keen on that transfer from beginning although it made sense. I just think he is not at the level most people think he is. He wasn't that good in his last years with us (yeah yeah nobody was but most hit average level where he was poor), he wasn't game changer for Inter. He was for Brentford but well, that was only Brentford. As I said on many levels that transfer made sense but with emotions aside, we can find someone else that can do same job or even better.

didn't really expect him to join once it all went quiet but clearly not gone there for football reasons (outside of the CV update obviously) as they're an absolute mess. Maybe fancied playing with CR7, who knows. Thought he'd have stayed at brentford tbh, seemed a great fit.

They will probably meet up when passing through the revolving door.

Maybe he didn't have an offer from a CL club

De Jong, Fernandes and Eriksen will get bullied if they play in the same 11
I have to say it looks from the outside like ETH is seriously underestimating the physicality and pace of the Prem. We've seen so many teams built full of technical players get bullied out of games against teams filled with steel and determination and far less ability.

I understand that but did he not also say that CL football was important? As was London?

In a WC year, there is no guarantee he plays regularly for United as they are currently overloaded in his area of the pitch.

Fair enough, there are people saying that, you’re right. I think the majority are more upset because a player we all love is now gonna be pulling on the United shirt.
