I like signing South American players on FM, usually get them in and they become world beaters within a few seasons.

Do you think I could become a scout for one of these Chinese teams? I could save them money on buying the expensive old South Americans for world class younger talent.

I'd take £100k a week.

Think they are doing that as well.

Fair enough.

I'm not overly bothered but it is a bit of a shitter that the likes of City and Chelsea will be able to sell their shit this summer for massively more than their value which will help them with FFP.

It will probably hit European clubs with Asian based sponsors.....
They will be more likely to poor money into clubs closer to home if they are attracting big name players.
They'll still want the European exposure though (AIA will be very pleased if we make the Europa League final I expect).

Any top name footballer going there has given up on football in my opinion and just looking for a pay check.

money flowing into csl will change the landscape for the money mad and near retirement players, but in no way challenge the bigger European leagues, imho.

Crowds are steadily rising but stadia, training facilities and refereeing standards are far from high. Most Chinese cities are barely liveable, contracts will be relatively short. Shijiazhuang is one of the most polluted cities in the world, for example. Even parachuting in for home games and living in a plush suburb of Beijing... I'd give someone like Lavezzi 12-18 months tops.

I've lived in Asia thirteen years and China for five of them, by the way...

They aren't exactly picking up any stars though are they? Although I concede it is still early days. They are getting solid but ageing players (Lavezzi, Ramires, Martinez) or players who have lost their way (Paulinho, Martinez in this category too) and they seem to be predominantly getting South Americans. For the considerable future I cant see it being anything but just a very nice retirement earner.

Give it time. I think it's worth keeping an eye on. The market potential is so huge there....
