2006 was better, but it's been decent
Campos' multi-coloured kit was USA '94 as, for me anyway, was Carlos Valderrama and his amazing hair.See that's it, for me Mexico '86 with campos and his multi coloured kit, maradona, Hugo Sanchez, the Azteca stadium and all these players who most of us had never seen play etc was by far the most eye catching tournament I've witnessed....oh, and England actually done alright which was a bonus!
From an England fans perspective I just don't see how a tournament can be good when your national team doesn't actually perform, I don't remember anything about 94 or 2010!
Was it? God....thanks for that fella, you've just made me feel far too old!!!Campos' multi-coloured kit was USA '94 as, for me anyway, was Carlos Valderrama and his amazing hair.
I've really enjoyed this World Cup so far - hopefully the semis and final can pick it up again.
Up until the round of 16 it was in my opinion the best world cup ever... plenty of surprises and great to see some of the unknown quantities stick it to the big boys. Since then it has gotten progressively worse, cynical and predictable - and now I am at the point where I agree that 2006 was better.
Probably has something to do with the fact that clubs want players back for pre-season by a certain point...The group stages were great to be fair. I thought we were on course for a fantastic WC. The knock out stage thus far has disappointed - bar the Belgium/USA game which was one of the best of the lot.
I just don't understand why they couldn't of put the four quarter finals all on at 9 in the evening, spread out over Thursday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday...as opposed four of them crammed into two days...where the heat in the earlier kick offs slows the play.
They could of still spread it out enough to ensure enough time for rest until semis.
