So aside from knowing who the new manager is, he must also know who are the players the club is trying to sign. His own signing a new contract should give us hope of some really good players are coming.

well not to put a downer on things but Modric signed a 6 year contract just before the transfer window opened in 2010 and our only significant signing was Gallas on a Free :ROFLMAO:

thankfully that summer Levy managed to pull a Dutch God out his ass just before the window shut :D

We were in the CL for the 2010/11 season, which was good enough reason for Modric to sign a new deal......
Bale is signing despite us not being the in CL and is determined to help get us back there.

great news, big boost to the team.

really shows his commitment and maturity, and it sometimes ain't about the money.

It's ALL about the money. Tactical blinder from Bale and his representatives, and Tottenham too. Happy days all round, but don't be naive.

Does anyone else read a little bit more into Bale's situation in terms of the way he felt about Redknapp and Redknapp's tactics?

To sign a contract like this, and praise the direction the club is going in, BEFORE we have officially announced a new boss could be read into that he is pleased HR was fired.

Amidst issues with his position in HR's inflexible system, frustration in key games where this led to him being ineffective and rumours of a dressing room split regarding HR's tactics/training and our collapse in the 2nd half of last season...

Maybe there was an element of Bale saying to the top brass, if you want to keep me I want more cash and a manager who can develop my game further...

It's almost certainly more simple than that, but it did get me thinking!

Good news, but that doesn't nesscary mean he'll be here for more than two years.

This gives Levy more of a chance of getting a bigger fee for him.

exactly. Nothing to be too erect about. Its a win-win situation and Im sure there is a gentlemans clause in there somewhere. BUTTTT at least he'll stay for another season.
