Antonio Conte calls on Tottenham to treat final nine games as cup finals

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte says his side have nine cup finals left as they try and earn Champions League qualification. Spurs kept themselves firmly in the race for the top four with a 3-1 win over West Ham, which came thanks to Son Heung-min’s brace and a Kurt Zouma own goal.

The arse game is the key one. And when it gets scheduled.

Sky will want this potentially decisive fixture as late as possible, to keep the interest up in all the arse and spurs fixtures up to that point. Plus they have to keep up the interest of manu fans - they are not out of it quite yet.

There are 3 midweek slots free in May - May -4th before liverpool, May 11th - after liverpool and May 18th.
There are plenty of other games to schedule midweek, and some could settle more important issues. So sky might want to reserve the 17/18th for title/relegation matters.

The club have to refuse May 11th - it is the mirror image of why arse did not want to play us the first time round. After the prem also effectively ended our european run, rescheduling the game to this midweek would be an absolute disgrace. Tell them we wash the kits that day. We have to water the NFL pitch that day. Lloris has a suspicious cough. Anything. It is the principle of the thing.

That leaves May 4th - man city fans will not be happy, as we are one of the clubs that could take points off liverpool. But to do this 3 days after the derby, would be a big ask. And we might need points there too.
Plus this is a CL semi-final slot, so it might be protected.

Every midweek slot is free for us in april, but we pretty much know the prem/sky are going to stitch us up again. Surely April 14th would suit both clubs?
Conte is absolutely right to fire a few pre-emptive shots.
