Fair enough, will be good to get some clarification. I said in the matchday thread, I genuinely have no idea what constitutes obstructing a keeper anymore, especially after watching the last few games, so it'll be good to get a definite answer.

I would be surprised if there is a definitive answer. Thought there ought to be one. As with blue cards, everything is infected by relativism.

Clarity on how the rule is being interpreted / applied is definitely needed.

If what is happening to Vicario isn't considered obstruction, then we need to not only come up with a mitigation, but also start doing it to opposition keepers.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a rise on keeper's being "legally" obstructed this season, followed by a crackdown by officials at the start of next season - once refs have had opportunity to assess the problem during the off-season.

It always seems that Spurs are always the catalyst for these reviews after initially suffering from the issues eg handball etc

Everytime we get a corner I'm hoping our players 3d the opposition goalkeeper. Unfortunately hasn't happened yet.

Just seen it happen in the west ham + Woolwich game, dude wasn't even looking for the ball, all eyes on the keeper and a casual shoulder barge to stop him turning.

Either keepers need to be allowed to combat that or the refs need to sort that shit out.

This is really irritating me that teams are getting away with. I'm Just watching the west ham gooners and Ben white did a very small nudge on areola for the arsenal goal. Not quite as blatant as the roughing up Vic is gettin. I'm wondering if this is a thing being allowed then we should start doing it more. It's one of those things that some will be given and some won't and you know certain clubs will get these decisions and some won't.

Ben White has done it all season long, it's a clear instruction from Carpet head.

He can only rub up against the keeper though, if he rubbed up against any of our outfield players we'd be able to tell immediately by the horrible, orange streaks he leaves on our white shirts.

It's quite telling, if you google image search Ben White, he's a different shade of orange in practically every image.

Disagree on the White one this weekend. He didn't make a move in to the West Ham keeper, he effectively screened an area preventing their keeper from getting out to the flight of the ball. Vicario against Everton was different imo in that the player (Harrison I think) was pushing into Vicario.

Neither of them are looking to play the ball, but only one of them is actively moving their opponent. Both instances are in the realms of obstruction but I don't know if the refs are treating it similarly to shield the ball out of play.
