25 Man Squad 2016/2017

Current squad numbers seems to allow the addition of one more over 21 year old player without selling
anyone..

I think Poch likes having a 25 man squad, as an optimum sized group to work with, irrespective of those underage etc.

My feeling is the final 25 will be something like:

Dier/Wanyama
Dembele/Bentaleb + Winks

Eriksen/GKN
Alli/Mason + Onomah
Lamela/Son

Which leaves Yedlin, Fazio, Carroll, Njie, Pritchard and Chadli without chairs

are you sure? i thought if the player is 21(or older) on jan 1st then they'll count towards the squad for the following season.

Few if any of the top PL sides has in recent seasons named a full squad of 25 players who are 21 or over - typically its around 22 players aged over 21 plus of course being able to use youngsters under 21 - think the smallest squad named a couple of years ago was about 18 players over age 21.

Poch has been on record in the past about being happier with smaller squads (= no dissatisfaction from players not playing enough) supplemented by youngsters (and so far the number of youngsters loaned by Spurs has plummeted by comparison with pre-Poch Spurs so more are remaining at Spurs and available for first team involvement).

All of which suggests the '25 players over 21' will not be a constraint on Poch - we will probably have a smaller squad of over 21 players than that.

Bentaleb was an U21 last season as he was 20 on 1st Jan 2015. This Jan he was 21 so has to be registered.

I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a mixture of goalies, defenders, midfielders, and even attackers in plural (!) in this squad.

I think it will be at least 2 out of 3, if not all three. Janssen has replaced Chadli. GKN may replace Njie. And Pritchard played 1 match and then was loaned out because Onomah had stolen a jump on him.

In effect then that's 3 out because we've brought 3 in.

He's not good enough to be in the starting 11 and is less effective off of the bench. Plus at this point we have more dynamic options that can change the shape of our attack and we can probably get a decent price for him.
