We have more chance of winning the Europa, as opposed to UCL. I hope we draw midweek, lose to liverpool and Villa have won their games.

Am I mercenary? yes. A fraud of a fan? yes. But anything to stop them idiots winning it. I couldnt care less about 4th.
I'd hate them to win it, but they won't anyway so I'm not concerned. They've got a wobble in them. They showed that yesterday they still have the ability to shit the bed.

Tottenham over everything. 4th and CL money might well accelerate our progress a bit quicker by giving us more funds to play with this summer. It's unlikely we'll finish 4th, but still, it would be a huge achievement in itself.

Why do u want Villa to win their games?

Its been too long for silverware. I think we'd have a great chance of the Europa personally.

I get you want to aim as high as possible but not to the detriment of our rivals winning the league. I'm just not that fussed about UCL after seeing how Levy didnt back Conte properly. Cant see it being any different with Ange.

I said the same a few weeks ago and it turns into a past performances argument, but I completely agree.

If we are truly in a rebuilding phase, why not play in a competition that is statistically “weaker” than UCL? We are not winning the UCL any time soon, but we have better odds at UEL glory. Inject 5th place right into my jugular.

I think it suit where Ange is and where the club is.

If Villa do get 4th, I think they will do a Newcastle and suffer from it.

Unlikely, but not impossible to finish 4th. Villa draw away to Brighton, lose at home to Liverpool and lose away to Palace who are one if the form teams at the moment. Tielimans misses next two games, Keeper has hamstring injury, not known how bad.
Leaves them with 68 points. We then need 9 points . Win Chelsea, Burnley, Sheffield Utd. Well poss to get draws v Pool and City. Although we have a poor record away to Liverpool , over last 10 years nearly half the results have been draws. Would have been last season as well if not for Lucas last minute assist.
We live in hope.

As much as a CL games are the next level as far as glamour and big games, which we all enjoy and are special nights at Spurs (ignoring the finances involved), finishing 5th and playing Europa for our development doesnt feel like a bad thing.

If we hadn't gone 10 games unbeaten playing dynamic football, followed by several results which could be deemed a bit unlucky for us to be on the wrong side of them then I dont think we would be quite so disappointed with 5th as maybe we are.

Yeah good analysis there.

Need Villa to drop points at Brighton, thats key.

As much as it feels necessary to finish about teams like Aston Villa and hoover up all the money. I would probably prefer an exciting EL campaign than a couple of high profile CL ties where we lose out against Real or Bayern.

The problem has always been that we fail to perform in winnable european ties. It would be nice to go into a winnable competition playing with confidence and motivation.

Brighton's last four games, Villa , Newcastle, Chelsea and Manure , if De Zerbi could wake up his players they could help seal at least 5th place for us. I don't think 4th is now achievable unless we win all the remaining games which is highly unlikely.

I'd be chuffed to bits if we made CL but at this moment in time I genuinely think that Europa League is a better level for us. It's less intense than CL and expectations would be kept in check as we continue the process of rebuilding. We won't be trying to attract the sort of megastars who would be demanding CL but instead will be trying for the sort of players who will give everything to the club regardless of what competitions we're in. Ange has also said that the process is more important than instant success, so I can get behind that.
