And 3 of our last 5 games are at home against City and Arsenal and away at Anfield. It could be a majestic run-in for us (or an abject disaster, or somewhere in between).
Winning it at Anfield will be glorious

OUR PLAYERS have to change their mindset and stop thinking we have won because we're a goal or 2 in front. Need to keep playing

Why are so many posters looking behind us?

surely let’s look upwards.

2 points behind villa, 5 behind arse, 7 behind fools n potentially 8 behind city if they win their both games in hand

but they are all still in Europe, all still have cup fixtures to contend with and all still to have play one another

there’s plenty more twists and turns to the title imo, not as straightforward as “3 horse race”

if things fall our way, we can still catch up!

We haven't lost a league game since last year.
We've only lost once in 8 games. With 5 wins in that time too.

The lack of belief in our team is baffling from some. People looking behind at United, who are 6 points behind us. If they think they can catch us, wheres the belief that we can catch Arsenal who are less points ahead of us? United have 3 losses in that same period of 8 games.

I think it's because there has been quite a bit of chaos about us this season. When we calm down a bit and start to see out games then more confidence will come.

For what it's worth, I'm still waiting for us to fully "click" for a whole game, but I think when we do, we will give someone an absolute beating - 7 or 8 nil type of beating.

Hopefully we can now put out a consistent team and really put a run together, but for me, we are still overachieving in Ange's first season so I'm pretty happy with where we are.

It's ingrained in us though

And that's part of the problem. We don't believe or get behind the team enough at times, because a lot of people expect it to go tits up, but we're a bloody good team and we're only 6 months into the season under Ange.

The negativity or nervous energy at home doesn't help anyone except who we're playing.

Look at Liverpool. They're absolutely weirdos in every aspect, but can't doubt their belief in their team. Even when they were shit before Klopp turned them around, they had this inherent belief they would win every game, especially at home. Klopp announced he was leaving and they start talking about the fucking quadruple.

We need to be like that in that respect. Believe and back the team. Look up, not down. And that's where being similar to Liverpool fans stop.

I do believe this is another big factor, our fans lack of belief in the side and sticking behind the boys when things aren’t going well especially in home games. Obviously our recent history does leave fans to believe we will always mess things up but we really need to get back to the sort of support we had in the first 10 games of season where the stadium was rocking.

Probs because we aren’t playing well. We are conceding goals galore to average attacking sides.

How do you cope with a normal day of life? You're so negative all the time, without even looking at facts.

- We've just got our first choice CB pairing back for the last 2/3 games after long injuries for both.

- We're still without our first choice midfield. Maddison has just returned from injury.

- We haven't lost a game since the end of December in the league. We've lost once in 8 games.

- We're playing without our captain, best player and goal scorer and still scoring goals at the same rate without him.

-No doubt, We're conceding more goals than we should be, but a lot of them have come with Davies and Royal as our CB pairing.

-If United are so great and going to catch us, they can't exactly be average attacking wise can they? If you watch them play they are so reliant on moments, they don't have any specific patterns. They could have easily been one down before they went ahead, and level but for profligacy by Emerson yesterday too.

- Everton scored from 2 set pieces, one which could have been a foul on Vicario.

- Brentford scored from two mistakes we made, it wasn't down to bad defending.

- We are still dominating teams and are about to be one player away from the team that went unbeaten in the first 10 games of the season.

We're absolutely fine. 6 months under Ange and this is where we are after an atrocious run of injuries, unprecedented and yet we're still really close to the top of the league.

United can catch us being 6 points behind, but there's no belief we can't overhaul the teams above us with less of a gap. We did it under Conte to Arsenal with a far worse team and less games to go 2 seasons ago.

I cope just fine and I’m not negative at all. I understand we have just got them back but since we have we’ve conceded a lot of goals which you cannot ignore, I understand we have players away and players just coming back from injury so proof will be in the pudding when everyone is back and fit but I’m judging us currently on the eye test. Brentford are not a good side, they had two key wingers out and yet they tore us to shreds you cannot deny that.
I never said anything about United I just caveated why I think a lot of people are being negative.
Same goes for United though they are getting their players back now and do look much better so they could easily go on a big run now. It works both ways as they have had pretty horrendous injury problems and have had to play evans and Maguire at Cb.
I know we are fine, I’ve said numerous times you cannot judge us properly until next season I’m content with where we are I think we are doing well.
But Brentford also wasted a number of big chances against us, yeah everton looked toothless but they also dominated us for a half with 2 key cms out and a bunch of attackers out injured.

That's one game where we weren't great. We've largely been very good.

We absolutely dominated United away, which you conveniently ignore. But I suppose they're an average attacking side, but you also believe they're going to catch us. Which is it?

Are Liverpool now not as good because they were poor yesterday and conceded 3 goals? One game doesn't make us a bad team.

When have I once said they’re going to catch us? Yeah and we didn’t beat United did we.
The difference was Liverpool did that against the team in 2nd we did it against 2 very out of form sides.

If you read the posts I'm responding to about United catching us, it appears like you're agreeing that they can catch us 👍

There are posts about them finding form and us being out of form, when in fact we've picked up more points recently than them.

For someone who not at all negative, you seem to be taking the positives I'm mentioning and turning them to negatives.

Man United 6 points away from us as it stands.

If we beat Brighton next Saturday they’ll be a big gap to 7th with West Ham also playing Arsenal that weekend.

Top 6 is looking very likely, but next weekend against Brighton is now a huge game we must win.
Strange thinking I know but am thinking a Villa win at home to Man Utd this coming weekend will be better for our champ lge chances than a Utd win.
Extremely good chance of 5 CL places means we need to keep Utd well behind us.
They have probably lost Martinez for the season and are not that good a side really but momentum is a great thing . We can joust with Villa for 4/5th place with them far behind. Of course we have got to get back into gear.
We will know better about the 5 places by the end of this month. We have 6 teams through , all group winners, all seeded and very good chance of all getting through.

yet even with this great momentum United are allegedly building, and our apparently poor form, we are still keeping up with them and even obtaining more points than them, depending what sample of matches one uses.
