Prior to RB I don't think Perez was anything more than a solid middle of the pack driver, he's never been anything special unlike Verstappen who looked like he was destined for the top in his debut season. What would be good for the sport would be if we could get a Rosberg/Hamilton type lineup at RB. There are much better drivers out there than Perez who would get more out of that car imo.
Won't ever happen whilst the Verstappen's (Dad and Son) have so much power. The Horner 'thing' is about who runs the team. It seems that Horner wanted to bring in a competitive driver to challenge Verstappen which Dad and Son didn't want for obvious reasons. So let the games begin to edge Horner out.

Getting prickly at RB, toys out of the pram very shortly.

So rumours circulating.

1. Max will only stay if Horner goes

2. Jos V talking to Mercedes

The Mercedes one for me is a non starter, it would mean George being replaced by a pay to drive driver.

Better still, why not leave F1 altogether and go to the Indycar series.

Red Bull should have the confidence to just say “off you fuck” then. Verstappen wouldn’t be winning in a Mercedes, swap him with Russel and I guarantee Russel wins the title this year, heck swap him with Sargent and he’d probably make a decent fist of it.

I think the concern is 2026. Rumors that the Red Bull power unit is lagging behind their rivals.

The speculation I read yesterday is that Max and family want Horner out because there is a break clause in Max’s contract that would allow Max to leave if Horner leaves. A new contract, at current market rates, and at a car likely to be more competitive when the new regs come out.

Is F1 currently the most irrelevant 'sport' in the world?

I see your F1 and raise you Quiddich

This is definitely ending with Jos taking Horner’s job.

I didn't realise that Jos Verstappen wielded so much power behind the scenes at RB. I always assumed that RB just ran things the way they did because it was far easier than having two drivers risking the constructors title for their own personal one.

I mean F1 openly cheated to give Max a world title - this looks like nothing in comparison....
And since then have done absolutely nothing to try to bring the field closer together. They just let Max dominate & win every race by an average of about 30 seconds with Checo sitting 2nd in the other Red Bull.

I'm no fan of RB but what can the FIA do? It's not their fault that RB absolutely nailed the concept and everyone else is struggling to keep up. As is often said by the Lewis haters on other F1 forums, Mercedes were in the exact same position for years with no other team really getting close to them.

The first year that Max won - the FIA (F1?) changed a regulation mid-year. The change applies to all cars - but the effect was harsher on the lower rake cars - Mercedes, than the high rake cars - Red Bull. That closed the gap on Mercedes - and was a factor in Max even being close enough to be gifted the championship on the last lap.

Put in real penalty for spending cap breaches that put RB clear of everyone else to start with, with minimal effect on next season as penalty was hardly anything and already had the car nailed down.

This is interesting.....
It seems clear: The Thais, who continue to stand behind Horner despite all the accusations, seem ready to let their superstar go. They believe that design genius Adrian Newey is more important for success than the super talent from the Netherlands - and they believe they can keep him. The British mastermind is supposed to build winning cars for the Australian Oscar Piastri and the Thai-British Alexander Albon in the future - that's the plan if Verstappen leaves.

Imagine dropping Max and letting him go to say.....Merc.....just to keep Horner so that they can keep Newey
