Looked like he'd just walked off the operating table. Not sure how long he's been back training for but he looked nowhere near ready.

Not going to make it with us, I would love him to but he bottled a number of challenges (as usual) and when he could of either used his pace to break on goal or take the ball to the corner flag he ended up giving the ball away and almost causing a reply

One never knows when a new coach's style of play and attitude unlocks a player's potential. Looking forward to seeing if Ryan thrives under Ange.

Amazing the difference in level of support and understanding of performance given to two players coming back off of a horrendous injury layoff between Sess and Bentancur. Personally, just happy to have both out there at all given the shit hands they've been dealt and that they play for this club and have been selected by Ange to play.

I’m glad sensible heads are prevailing in this thread and people are realising he’s coming back from 11 months out so might not be exactly fully up to it.

Oh Nevermind.

Jesus Christ lads, give the bloke a chance FFS.
Maybe, just maybe he's finally resolved his injury issues but if everyone's going to judge him on 10 minutes after so long out, we may as well all give up.

We may as well give him a chance to fulfil the potential he showed (that made us pay good money for him), rather than writing him off in his first few minutes for Christ knows how long.

He may not reach the levels we want but a little support to an injured player coming back wouldn't go amiss.

V happy for him to be back on the pitch. Must be an enormous relief for him. A long, long way back for him to be playing regular PL football again. Probably will need a loan in the championship to get some regular minutes and try and get his body used to the demands again.

Give him a chance, yes. But the guy that who dropped a shoulder and beat him in the last minute could honestly have done it at walking pace and Sess wasn't stopping him. This guy used to be a left back. I understand why he'd be nervous about changing direction but if that's the case he shouldn't be on the pitch. Get that confidence back on the training pitch. It's way too costly for him to grow his confidence in his body in pressurised match situations. I want the guy to succeed and I really feel for him but we can't take the gamble to see if he's ready/will ever be good enough in these games. Maybe he's been sharper in training and was nervous but I was scared watching him.

I didn't think he was too bad overall but then, it doesn't really matter what I think because Ange thought he could do a job.
You say you want him to succeed but seem rather hasty to pick up on any little error he may make.
He won't get match sharpness without playing matches.
All I'm saying is to give the lad a chance before bundling onto him as so many seem to be doing already.

100% agree. Felt quite disappointed at the stadium tonight when barely anyone made any sort of noise when Sess came on, I get he's not very popular but he's been injured for 11 months, could have shown him some support.

Any obviously the criticism of his performance tonight is ridiculous.

Shocked but very happy to see Sessegnon back on the pitch tonight. When he emerged as a youngster he looked like a top talent. I would love to see him become the player he threatened to be. Welcome back Sess

Depending on where he is in his rehab - he could really use a loan, and get back into a regular routine, and get some matches in.

Fitness issues aside, he clearly has missed a lot of work on Ange's tactics and so I think it makes it difficult for Ange to give him the minutes he needs once everyone is back in February. He is either going to be 3rd choice LB or the 6th or 7th choice attacking player. In either situation, it will be hard to justify minutes. But, a loan to a team where he might get some minutes in whatever position the club thinks is his future - would set him up to come back this summer and compete on a more level playing field.

This is the correct message.

Lets see if he can recover and offer something.

He has played very little football and has never had a substantial períod on the pitch that allows development yet people are waiting him off.

Remember people wanted Danny Rose gone
