D1 on COYS:

Told v quiet we are struggling to move players out and Daniel does not want to spend what we do not receive first which makes me think the maddison , vdv buys was the kane money

told most likely is another center half over a forward , they like orban and are monitoring but no more than 50/50 chance of a deal , center half more likely
If this actually ends up happening I see things getting very ugly very quickly for Levy and he will have nowhere to hide.
How he himself can’t see his own incompetence is beyond me.

Things need to get so uncomfortable for him that he has no choice but to sell.

The most annoying thing is we'll end up most of our business on the final day, offering these players on desperation loans and last minute deals in a mad rush that will leave us short on time and staffing to complete them all coherently and potentially damage our chances of signing players in the process as Levy & co will be so busy.

We've never needed to get rid of this many players in such a short space of time and it will be a shitshow if we try and do our usual last-minute job.

We either need a far more clinical huge presence upfront or a very talented winger that can have fullbacks on toast all game and create a bucket load of chances for Richy (or Son if he plays there). The likes of David and Johnson achieve neither of those I’m afraid in my opinion

As I recall we did accept an offer for Davinson Sanchez but he didn't fancy it and people were all over this forum saying we shouldn't have accepted it anyway.
Personally I believe the whole window is waiting, waiting, waiting for the last knockings hoping for some good deals and we're not immune from that as clubs know we have to trim our squad, our manager even said so in his press conference.

From a business perspective (as I am sure that’s the perspective Levy is looking at), it makes no sense to keep these unwanted and not-to-be-registered players come September 1. These are assets that 1. will further decline in value because there are no catalysts to appreciate their value (since they are not registered) and 2. their wages only make their total cost without return heavier. Added to that, they seemingly obstruct an injection of more quality in his business (= value appreciation of the club as whole)

At one point, Levy will have to start cutting his losses on the deadwood.
Well so far we've gone the other way in that we loan them and hope they do well which leads to a sale we consider acceptable. It's not the worst strategy but it clearly hasn't had the desired effect so far. At some point we need to realise this and just let them go for whatever we can get.

Sanchez sold - wouldn't go , ditto NDombele..whilst I hate how the club is run for transfers I dont believe for a minute we arent trying to move deadwood -

Not happening though, is it

In the words of DT he could literally murder someone outside WHL in broad daylight and get away with it

Oh there's no doubt we are trying to move them. The real question is how much are we willing to lose/compromise in order to do so.

A derisory fee is better than no fee at all. We have to at some point face the facts that we are going to be paying players that we can't even register to play very very soon. So what exactly is an "acceptable fee" for a player you can't use and yet are still paying a hefty wage, because It's certainly not the market rate.

If it were my business I'd be on the blower to his agent and letting the likes of Ndombele leave for nothing right now if he could find a club, because all he is is a drain on resources and we are never going to recoup any money on him. Every season that we keep him, and loan him out whilst subsidising his wages it costs us more and more.
Couldn't agree more, my point was more that we have been in this boat repeatedly and know the club, in most cases doesn't view this as we do.

I can’t for the life of me see how it would be ok or Levy would see it as ok to not bring anyone else in after selling Kane and ending up with barely any net spend this summer.

Absolutely negligent

Where I struggle with this is the fact these players are going to walk on frees in a year or so anyway. I would understand it more if they all still had four or five years left on their contacts.

We will get a website statement along the lines of ‘you might think we’ve spent fuck all above the money for selling our best player by miles, but you’d be stupid for thinking that, actually Richarlison was already our Kane replacement, we just didn’t mention it before, we’ve changed Son to a striker on the website (again) and we even bought Kulu and Porro twice over two windows such is our dedication to investing in this team!’

What was the plan if Bayern didn’t cough up for Kane then, because if we were able to buy what we have done so far with no incomings, then clearly there’s some money still

Thx for the info. Not surprised one bit. We are the only club in the PL that needs to sell to spend. Strange really.
It's not really needing sells to spend, it's needing space to register players without leaving club with really bad negotiating power when at the moment we have 31 players.
And it's the same for every club in the world. You just don't read every transfer rumours about them.
