You’ve missed the mark entirely. All managers would want them upgraded, but one shiny header prick doesn’t play ball.
Not wanting to argue but any manager coming in and accepting those players are a mainstay in the squad is an absolute mug setting themselves up for failure.

Managers will always be apportioned some of the blame. But Poch, Mourinho, Conte all to blame? Not for me.

My blame goes to the common denominator.
All are to blame. Not sure why we have to go down this avenue over and over

Bullets dodged Neo style looking at the season both of them have had
Can you remember how poorly Harry started after he failed to get his move to City?

It's not so much about us not getting certain players for whatever reason the problem is when the powers that be buy whomever they want as an alternative. You can't complain when the next man in (that you like) doesn't get the players he wants when you don't see how much of a problem this is.

My guess is that the club decided buying a player who’d done both knees in the last two years, at great expense, for a manager that wouldn’t commit was too big a risk.

And who can blame them.
We can blame them! They created this uncertainty around the manager in the first place. No other serious club would have allowed a manager to go into a new season and therefore new transfer windows having not committed.

Why won't he commit? Because he knows he was likely trying to keep some leverage over levy who is known for screwing managers.

conte will rightly go now or in a matter of weeks but we must get rid of this board it is a mess.

Kane is a seasonal world class player. I know that's just one comparison so will move on.

The powers that be. Is that Paratici now? Our DOF? If so he should absolutely be signing players he wants as that's his job. On the continent this is how it works. And works well if you have good people. Manager turnover happens all the time and if you had said structure in place doesn't affect you much, Brighton being a great example of this.

If Levy is going above Paraticis head then that's a whole different ball game though

TBF though Bastoni had been brilliant for a couple of seasons and his form has fallen off a cliff since last Summer. Zaniolo I sort of get but again if you in the hot seat and aren't convinced that the RWF being asked for is the right choice, you explain your concerns and find an alternative. What you don't do is bring in a LWF instead because you got a good deal.

Sons form must have been factored as well as Gil being loaned though right?

No idea what's up with Sonny and it may be down to Conte. I know I'm sounding like I'm defending Conte but believe me I think he should go as much as everyone else. I guess all I'm doing is trying to point out that these things will happen no matter who is in charge because of how we are run.

Dont disagree with that but sometimes you just have to cut losses and be brave. Like Arsenal did.

We were trying to give away both Lo Celso and Ndombele for half what we paid for them last summer and still no one could afford them.

We also previously given away players like Alderweireld, Aurier, Doherty, Sissoko. We can't just keep giving away players, it's an awful way to run a business. Especially players coming into their prime like Ndombele, Lo Celso, Rodon, Regi. It's just not feasible.

We have 5 wing backs, arguably 6 with Emerson's form over the last few months. Not sure switching to a 4 makes any sense at all squad wise.
Personally I disagree with this, most of the younger mangers we have been linked with thus far who play a back 4 like their FB to push high up the pitch. Also as we are looking at high press managers on the whole that means they will be required to sit further up the pitch when out of possession, often with the CDM dropping deeper to essentially become a third defender. The only one of our current crop I would see struggling in such tactics would be Persisc but, if he stays beyond summer and i'm not sure he will, I would assume he would just revert to his primary position of WF especially with his age becoming a factor on his stamina. Maybe Sess as well but personally i don't think he is a particularly talented payer regardless of formation and one I would look to sell. Udogie and Porro I wouldn't see having any major issues as they are both fast, they would probably need to adapt a little but I don't think it would be as hard a transition. Spence may struggle but he seems to struggle a bit with the more disciplined side of his current role anyway. Royal would obviously do well in a back 4. Really with a good manager who plays aggressive football I don't see it as much of an issue. If we were to go for a more defensive manager tho then yes I would completely agree with you.

A mate just text me saying Paul Barber was just on Talksport basically saying they expect every player and manager to eventually move on so they have all their ducks lined up all the time just in case.

i agree changing manager is only great if you actually back the next manager!

we need to stop looking for instant success on the cheap, either you go big or build! We need identity and a clear plan which i feel Levy has been guilty of, Conte, has his faults but he was always going to be a short-term fix a long with Jose, it almost felt like they were signed to keep Kane!

If a manager comes in and plays good attacking football, uses young players and the fans can see a direction they will get some time, (maybe I am being optimistic).

i think we will prob loose Kane and Son, so its going to need to be a substantial rebuild! we all know how bad the club are at signing strikers!

Regardless of who comes in we still need a big clear out, big investment and we need to use our academy far far better!
