Where would you like me to put it? It is a player we could realistically be interested in rather than Spence, we don’t have a generic transfer related thread. But sorry it doesn’t meet your requirements - we will stick with the hilarious puns instead

Ideally if it's a player that we haven't been linked to then a thread on the player in general football would be the best place.

If we then get linked it can get moved across.

Trix did mention Dest last week when there was a snag in the Spence deal. Not sure if it was info or opinion though. Think it may have been the latter.
Someone asked me who I'd prefer over Spence for that position because apparently Spence was second only to Hakimi in his mind, that's all it was.

Couldn't we have a thread in general football, well away from ITK and Rumours, where we can actually name players that we'd like to see in our team, A place where you can say "if we are offering £X for linked player Y, then why can't we try for player Z?" without fear of the wrath of You-know-who and his ban-stick.

No idea if Dest has any characteristics that would make a good RWB? We did so well with the last RB we signed from them that what could go wrong…

Dest is no more a wing back than Emerson. Not good enough in the final third.

Not in the Spence thread seeing as the link doesn't mention Spence or us. Maybe the general transfer thread as it seems more applicable there? It's not my requirements it's the Forums.

Not according to A&C when he said this

I don't think we've ever worried too much about the player threads going off topic and if you want to discuss alternates for that players position there's your venue.......... and we've never had a thread in here for wishlisting or even discussion. That's what the player threads are for. I think...

Fair enough but surely that should only apply to players we have been linked with? Otherwise the thread just gets derailed and becomes a wishlist thread?

Article if interested

Tottenham Hotspur are close to finally completing the protracted £15 million capture of Djed Spence.
Spurs are edging towards an agreement in principle with Championship club Middlesbrough for the England under-21 international, after weeks of negotiations, and expect to seal the signing before this weekend.
Spence, 21, has been a priority target for Antonio Conte this summer and he is set to undergo a medical in time to join Tottenham on their pre-season tour of South Korea, with the squad flying out on Saturday.
The former Fulham trainee proved an excellent addition for Nottingham Forest on loan last season, playing a key role in helping the club return to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.

Due to his impact at the City Ground, Middlesbrough have been determined to hold out for a significant fee and played hardball during talks with Tottenham over the past fortnight.
Middlesbrough have previously turned down offers of £10m and £11m but are settling on a £15m fee upfront which could reach £20m after instalments.
Spence could potentially become the most expensive sale in Middlesbrough's history, eclipsing the £18 million paid by Wolves to sign Adama Traore in August 2018.
Spence will become the latest addition in a radical recruitment drive from Conte as Tottenham back the Italian with funds.
Tottenham have already completed the £60 million capture of Richarlison from Everton, while Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster have also signed this summer.

Spence appeals to Tottenham due to his potential, ability and age, while he will also top up their homegrown quota as the club prepare for the forthcoming season with the added bonus of Champions League football.
Tottenham will play their first pre-season friendly on Wednesday in Seoul against a team made up of the best K League 1 players. Conte's men also face Sevilla, Rangers and former manager Jose Mourinho's Roma before the Premier League season kicks off next month.

Kind of mad that our 5th signing of the season (that looks to be) completed in early July feels like an endless summer-long transfer saga.

Most previous summers we'd be lucky to have a single deal done at this point.
