Probably helps that he looks to have been freed up under Nuno in an attacking sense rather than being some sort of auxiliary right back under Mourinho. That time under Mourinho would maybe have helped develop his all round game but always felt as though he was playing with the handbrake on under him.

Looks in good physical condition and want to see him given a proper season where he is given licence to play his natural game. Feel a bit sorry for him. Joined just before the pandemic started and the stop/start nature of the league, got injured and also playing under a coach whose tactics maybe hindered his natural game.

If anyone can remember Mo Salah and how he missed so many chances earlier on in his career at Basel but you could see the potential... I see similarities with Bergwijn. You can clearly see the talent / potential and he needs to release that.

Massive call from Nuno to pick him over Moura today. And he was pony. Sadly.

I think because lucas played more or less 90 mins on thursday against Pacos might have a big thing to do with it. We are also hindered because Son had to play on the right, we lose such a big part of our attacking threat due to that.

Son didn't "have to" play right though did he mate.

We all know he's not at his best there, coming in from the left perhaps his best strong point, whilst also proving his value through the middle in Kanes absence.

Sadly today showed what many (and it really was MANY) stated prior to the end of the Kane saga earlier this week.

2 wins before today, both match threads had plenty of posts about enjoyment of the movement, interchanging & fluidity between our front 3.

One change was made today. The fluidity disappeared.

Before people jump on me, I'm not knocking our world class striker. I'm just pointing out something that was openly discussed (and accepted) while it looked like he was on his way out.

To be honest I did think he was poor today. There were a few times when he received the ball quite advanced on the left and he just didn't want to take a bit of a risk or run at his man in a match where we really needed that to try and break through. Lucas wasn't great but his intent was better and very nearly gave Kane a tap in after a good direct run past their fullback.

I still think both him and Lucas should be no more than bench options for the most part though.

Works hard, ok when he has space to run in, but there's no "wow" factor with him.

I don't see it. Definitely need an upgrade on him and Lucas.

Works hard but never plays with any belief or swagger. So many times you just want him to face his man up and show what he can do and he invariable stops and passes square.

I’d probably get some disagrees but if Ajax can pony up £25m for him I’d sell him and use that money towards Traore.

I do think he’s improving he just looks sharper all round. Is that enough though? Ultimately his job is goals and assists or at least chip in a bit I don’t expect Son & Kane numbers. But stick a top draw attacking player next to Son & Kane and it massively elevates us. Facts are he’d get Nowhere near starting for City Chelsea Liverpool.
