I’m hoping we get a lower prem or championship side in the next round. Someone else can deal with all that magic of the cup/potential giant killer stuff.

You see, while I understand that logic, I'd rather risk getting humiliated by being knocked out by one of these teams, but being able to rotate and know that we should get by, than facing a lower prem/championship team that we'd have to take more seriously. We have a lot of games coming up and potentially 3 games to make up. Giant killing is a risk, but it's still much less likely than losing against top championship/low prem teams, regardless of who we play. So Chorley for me.

Agree with all of that. Chorley for me too, it’s my local team so will be incredible for the local area.

White was very good, and from what I hear he sounds like he could cut it at Championship level. A year/18 months playing fairly regularly there and he could be another ready to step up.

On another note surely Jose should consider Kane and Vinicius in the same side with Harry as a 10? Carlos has good movement and I think Kane would find him very easily in dangerous positions.

I missed the whole match thread today so sorry if this has already been said but how good was Gedson today!?! Looked really good I thought and bossed the game. There may be a permanent deal for him yet.

I thought he looked good too but maybe, don't read through the match thread!
He was todays scapegoat of choice for some, although I honestly have no idea why.

Played ok for someone who hasn't played a game for ages. Took time to settle in but he isn't a winger, plays better in CM but again seemed to play deeper which I found strange.

It's an option. On Vinicius, Im not actually convinced about his movement, I mean he is very mobile, but doesn't really bend his runs effectively. He seems to get into offside positions a lot, he maybe also needs to make himself a bit more available sometimes and play his back to goal a bit more. He has some fantastic attributes though, a decent passer, and a lot of pace and strength.

On Kane and Carlos, it certainly could work on paper, I just don't see it, because I don't see why we would play with two out and out striker, as a contextual option sure, one of the issues so far, however, has been we rarely find ourselves in a position where we need more strikers on the pitch. Our biggest issue is holding onto leads, and not finishing teams off, I'm not sure going with two up top is always what you need in those circumstances.

I think if Kane drops deeper, so really isn't playing as an out and out striker. Probably better used that way when we have a lack of creativity in midfield?

Sometimes twitter's not entirely shit, sometimes simple interaction between global superstars and random window danglers gives you a warm feeling inside.

That's true, but by going deeper he sucks the centre backs in and creates space for runs. With another striker you are likely to, actually, make less space for Son. It's part of the reason Dele just doesn't naturally fit in the system, because he'll just get in the way of Kane you just basically make Kane a more typical AM which will completely change the dynamic of how we play.

When Roma played Totti as a false 9 what made that team so strong and unpredictable were the runs from midfielders and wingers, it worked because there was no traditional striker right. Currently that dynamic works for us, I'm not against them playing together, but believe it's an option when we need to change things up, and unfortunately for Carlos, it's not an option that has actually made itself available too often. In fact I would say, in the league only the West Brom and Leicester game could you make a case of getting two strikers on. But you could also make a case to, say, bring Bale on and sacrifice a hard working wide player for a more offensively minded one.

Love this, Bale giving King the armband at the end of the game.

It would completely change how we play, but that might be a good thing in some games

As long as Vinicius made the runs it would work the same, or if he just held the ball up for then Kane to come onto the ball also, would a defender or midfielder have to pick him up? And then still have son or Moira coming in from the wings.

It could easily fail, but wouldn't know until we give it a try as a plan B I guess.

Not sure they would allow players from our ladies’ squad to play in the men’s league.
