what the feck does that even mean? There's almost always a better player out there not on your team. He’s been first team only out of necessity. same as Sissoko, not based off their merit or ability.
That they were essentially the only fit warm bodies in midfield and that’s why they started. Not because they were beating out other players at the position.what the feck does that even mean? There's almost always a better player out there not on your team.
well other than Skipp who was loaned out, Dele, Fernandes and Harvey White whoever that is.That they were essentially the only fit warm bodies in midfield and that’s why they started. Not because they were beating out other players at the position.
A 50/50 is when two players meet the ball at the exact same time foot to foot but whatever you say lolI assume it means the same thing to me as it does to every single former player pundit who has commentated on this incident.
Not one has blamed Winks for a catastrophic defensive error or choice. Neither do I.
You're free to believe whatever you like.

An impressive list.well other than Skipp who was loaned out, Dele, Fernandes and Harvey White whoever that is.
Considering the bashing I was giving him before the season I actually think he’s playing better this season than last. I’m not going to completely write him off just yet. He’s passing forward a bit
Winks passing sideways or being just calm with the ball - very badJust for reference, in the LASK game in the second half, he had one of the easiest over the top passes on to Son for one on one and just massively over hit it to their GK and you could see Son was furious. This is why i'm tired of him and don't back him. I can't name one thing he is actually good at? For a team of our aspirations that isn't good enough,

I dont want to bash a spurs player too much especially one that does put so much effort in. But it's not like Sissoko is that brilliant tactically either. His positioning can leave of us exposed in midfield and look at his effort marking Balbuena on the backpost for the first goal. For a senior role player it just isnt good enough. reckon Skipp will make him redundant next year. Not sure if it's surprising the stick Moussa gets. He's an absolute unit. A big physical presence that earns his place through merit (effort). Endless stamina, too.
He may not be there on technical merit, to the casual viewer, but his physicality can be vital in some matches he plays in. He also provides a very subtle transition from defence to attack, and effortlessly covers the defensive side, too. Not a million miles off Scotty P in that respect, but I think Moussa's faults are exasperated by his lack of attacking finesse. Scotty had that too, but didn't "reveal" it as much.
I feel sorry for Winks because he's a spurs lad, but I think he's in a similar situation as Dele in that he doesn't really fit in to our formation/style any more, and seems to be too rigid to adapt to it (again, unlike Sissoko, whose strengths are irrelevant to a style/formation).

agree having to play an auxiliary rb from midfield hasnt down him or winks any favours.Maybe, but I think his issue is often that he's left to cover for other players, which leaves him at sixes and sevens. He's not alone in having the odd mistake, and I think we'd be hard pushed to find anyone in the team that doesn't have the odd one - they're just more 'critical' when they are on the defensive side.
I'd take Sissoko every day over Winks. Not sure if it's surprising the stick Moussa gets. He's an absolute unit. A big physical presence that earns his place through merit (effort). Endless stamina, too.

I find it weird how there’s a collection of fans who get so upset by Harry effing Winks to the point where you thought he stole their wives, killed their dogs or slapped their moms. He’s a decent squad player, and that’s really what he is at this point. He’s not going to wow anyone, and for a guy who can come in, work hard, and operate within his skill set, that’s fine, I guess. Can he be upgraded on? Likely. And I think that’s a very real possibility in the future (along with Dele). Until then, he’s still going to play, he’s still going to pass sideways, FRAAB and be be the color beige as a midfielder.
