Are you the ghost of Johan Cruyff
Are you the ghost of Johan Cruyff
I know it's only 1 game but that was a very poor lethargic performance, we look like a mid-table team at best
Yet again it appears our players are getting away without much criticism. We saw these exact performances under Poch and we are still seeing them under Mourinho. Therefore, if Mourinho is as bad as everyone thinks in here then I can only assume that Poch is equally terrible and a past it coach? It can't be both Poch is great, Mou is sh*t when the players are playing the same way.
The entire blame has to go on to the players. They didn't even want to run yesterday, Dele Alli continues to think he is a world superstar and yet his first touch is always so horrendous. He needs to go back to basics. Generally as a club our recruitment has been poor, we lost Dembele and never replaced him and then we lost Eriksen and have not replaced him.
We have also been incredibly unlucky with continuous injuries to players in key positions and the fact that TN hasn't settled.
I'm not going to sit here and say that Mou is the best manager ever etc etc however people branding him rubbish and all that are purely saying it based on the brand of football. Since Mou took over he has amassed the 5th most points in the league, only 2 behind 4th place and when you think of how many games we were without Kane, Son, Lloris & GLC that is relatively impressive. We were incredibly poor yesterday there is no denying that but people calling for him to go need to realise that a) it isn't going to happen anytime soon and b) you are saying this after 1 game this season, 1 game.
I have never wanted our fan base to become so entitled that we have a manager who has the 5th best record in the league while missing key players is deemed rubbish and we deserve so so much better, and these same people still pine for Pochettino who was absolutely horrendous in his last 18 months but because they like him he is deemed as not a failure. Just doesn't add up.
I don't mind people having the view we're dull, it certainly wasn't total football again out there yesterday - but doesn't it have more to do with the fact that yet again the attacking 4 (+ Doherty) had chances in the opening 45 to put the game away?
We take those chances and a bit like the Burnley and Leicester games, the game opens up as teams press more and we then get more and more space ...
I think it's totally fine to be concerned about yesterdays outing but some of the 'critical point already' thinking is a bit over the top. Even I am guilty of it, but we've got a months worth of matches coming up in less two weeks.
I honestly have no idea what he saw that he felt the need to do that.JM will you stop with this obsession of finding all sorts of ways of getting Winks and Sissoko onto the pitch in the midfield at the same time. This should only be the choice when there are no other options left and it's an emergency.
0-0 at HT and starting the second half was certainly not an emergency where such a pairing was necessary, it was completely unnecessary and avoidable, other options were available if you felt the need to change things at HT !
We never replaced Dembele or Eriksen? Are you sure?
What are NDombele and GLC then?
Some people said it would be backward if we sign willian lol ... We need to sell dele alli ... If he plays in midfield, we will play like this ... As simple as this
It must be really hard for the likes of Lloris, Toby and Kane to get fired upfor some reason I was quietly optimistic about our prospects for this season. It’s like I forgot how dire the end of last season was and was blinded by the two supposedly quality signings that we made. All that hope and optimism has gone after that second half performance. I just don’t know where we go from here. Everton went out and upgraded their entire midfield for circa £60m and made sure they did it in time for match day one. By the looks of the transfer forum we’re still negotiating on 4 strikers, each less exciting than the last whilst trying to get Bale to speak to us.
it’s so depressing to go from where we were to where we are now. The players look more likely to fight Amongst themselves rather than get stuck in to the opposition. They just look bored. That is in no way absolving them of blame because they have to take responsibility for the shit that they’ve been serving up for nearly 2 years straight.
we are average.

Again, I can see the point of view, but it's then down to the players to make the difference on the pitch. Not one player in the opening twenty of the second half stood up before or after them scoring. That can't all be down to the manager, because that exact sentiment was also being trotted out with the previous manager. It's becoming a recurring theme with these players.Yes ì agree mate, completely. Had we taken the chances in the first half we're having a different conversation but that second half was worrying.
We have to be stronger mentally than that and the changes made by Mourinho where incredibly negative.
My problem is that negative mindset rubbing off on the players.
I do think it could prove to be critical in the sense that if we continue to play like that most weeks and results are mixed, pressure builds massively.
I was hoping Mourinho would have them fired up for that second half after a mixed sort of first half, but he shrank with those subs and obviously the team did.
Not what you want want to see from a manager of his pedigree playing a team below you in the table, at home, even if they are improved.
Hopefully we'll get a serious reaction next week but they're all responsible for that yesterday and the reaction to going one nil down was pretty chilling actually.
And to clarify, when I said critical point I didn't mean this week, I meant in the next few months.
The ITKs can smooze as much as they like. Jose may well be trying to adapt to the club we are but if shit starts to hit the fan we'll all start to hear a different type of tune.Yes, I was half way positive when Mou got the job actually. But you don’t hire Mourinho without big cash ready to spend in the transfer windows. That’s like purchasing a Ferrari without affording maintenance and parts when needed.
Not many managers in the top 6 have the luxury of bringing on Sissoko, message sent if you ask me.The ITKs can smooze as much as they like. Jose may well be trying to adapt to the club we are but if shit starts to hit the fan we'll all start to hear a different type of tune.
I mean Sorloth. Really...
