It’s the same players that let down Poch. They’re now letting down him. That’s the real problem.
That is a problem. Of bigger concern is he won’t be given the freedom to change them as Levy will probably demand pre-Covid prices. No serious funds in, no investment out.

Be it Poch, Mourinho or the players but quite honestly we are just a bang average side that is in major need of heavy investment that we won’t get. Both Poch and Mou are highly rated managers and these players have been utter shit for the last 18 months under the two of them.

Look around that team and tell me if, apart from Kane and potentially Son, a single one of them would get into any other top side in world football. Alli, Sissoko, Dier, Lucas, Aurier, Davies, Winks etc etc are all bang absolute average and are Everton/Newcastle level type footballers, not too 4.

I think everyone in here needs to review their expectations for the next 5-10 years because I don’t see the investment coming so it’s either hope and pray for a Mourinho miracle or just enjoy the wins and not get too stressed out about the losses.

I decided to do this prior to lockdown and will so moving forward. There are far more important things in this world than getting all pent up and angry with overrated and overpaid footballers who don’t give a shit about the Spurs shirt.

Those of you who want Mourinho out would have wanted Klopp out in his first 2.5 years at Liverpool. He had some stinkers: 3-0 against Watford, 3-1 against Swansea, 0-1 against Man U, 3-2 against Saints after being 2-0 up, 2-0 against Burnley, 3-1 against a poor Leicester, 6-0 at the Etihad and 4-1 against an injury hit Spurs at Wembley etc.

The difference is that the Liverpool board backed Klopp from day 1. Even in his Summer they got him Mane, Wijnaldum and Matip. We won't do that no matter who the manager is.
Even if they backed Jose, I don't have the confidence that he would bring in the right players for us. I think our biggest mistake was not paying up for Bruno Fernandes. He would have transformed our team. And look what it's cost us by not paying up.

We can raise funds though. Sissoko, Ndombele, Aurier, Lucas. That’s a load of cash right there that can easily be improved.

Back him or sack him. He's not a manager who can work miracles on a low budget, at least not anymore. Therefore, if we don't give him money to spend we're wasting his time, the players' time, and our time.

Before Poch left I said it was the players at fault... the thing is you bring in a new coach to correct those players attitude (if youre blaming the previous manager as the cause)....

Can I really trust Jose with 150m to correct that team? those players wont be the profile of the clubs strategy

Yeah good points. I mean it's what you'd hope, for a new coach to come in and correct a previous managers wrongs but we have no way of knowing if a different manager would be doing better than Jose is now. All we do know for a fact is that we've had two good managers in Poch and Jose and they've both churned out the same type of poor performances with this set of players.

That is the question though, can Jose be trusted with that money? I think now that we have him we have to take a risk and back him as much as we can afford to. It's either that or keep slipping further and further down, as we're not going to sack him any time soon.

I 100% agree. Today reminded me why I was glad football ended in March.

I enjoy posting on SC and talking about it. But I really don’t enjoy our games any more and haven’t probably for a long time. It’s rubbish watching it on tv, it’s better in the stadium but then VAR and the fans around me kill the enjoyment of the game.

I’m really at a crossroads because most of us have seen a lot worse times than this. Maybe you’re right and it’s time to not become so emotionally invested in the games anymore.

Yeah, I'm sure would buy Bruno Fernandes, and then same people would be complaining why we didn't buy Lo Celso who was 1st choice for Poch and is better player for every aspect except scoring.

I think thats what it is - i have absolutely zero confidence that Jose would bring in the right players and will spend an extortionate amount of cash. the question is, do we think Levy would be confident of that? I dont think so.

Sure, but he also got them to two cup finals in that first half season he had. Bit of money in the bank

And then back in the CL in his first full season, inconsistent but showing some aggressive pressing and attacking football

And in his second season cl qualification again, and a champions League final

Not a bad first 2.5 years

Klopp was a manager on the rise. Mourinho is on the decline. The George Graham comparison rings true. He was a successful manager but his best years were serving our hated rivals.

Has he got these players motivated?

The answer is no.

Even just boiling it down to something as simple as they just don’t look a happy bunch of players. For a time there was a real feel good factor around the club. Players smiling, looking happy, there own special handshakes etc just a good energy about the team. Just feels like all the players have finally realised they’ve been sold a lie
