He was absolutely pony yesterday and it is flavour of the month to pin it all on him, but he was no worse than Moura, Sissoko or son yesterday. They all contributed fuck all as well.
I dont think peoples frustrations with Eriksen are based on 1 game though. I'd agree Sissoko and son were ineffective vs everton, but they have plenty of positive performances behind them to have a little leeway. Hes not been as terrible as many make out in some matches, but since he is clearly off elsewhere and hasn't been anywhere near what he is capable of, I dont see the point in persisting with him. Use the team that beat Belgrade. It's not perfect, but it was more cohesive than anything since it before. And ce wasnt on the pitch. He was absolutely pony yesterday and it is flavour of the month to pin it all on him, but he was no worse than Moura, Sissoko or son yesterday. Yet he still gets picked ...
I'd like to have seen Lo Celso start the match against Everton last Sunday, possibly to be replaced after 60-75 minutes by someone like Eriksen brought on to see the match out. That is to say, play Eriksen as a fallback or fill-in and only if someone more committed to Spurs is unavailable.
The next step for Lo Celso is starting, we can't have any more of this 10-20 minutes here and there. We aren't getting results to justify it, he has to be put in now.
Tomorrow would be a good start. I think starting him against Sheffield united would be a mistake. It will be a fast and physical midfield battle in that game.
I think they are quite similar players, both quite slow for AM's although their creativity is their key attribute. Also quite weak runners/carriers of the ball. easily brushed aside by defenders, I think Mata is a better spotter of a through ball and has a better short passing range. but Eriksen has a better long pass and shot. They are players that you need to build your team around as they don't fit traditional formations/positions.So I was talking with a few people at the weekend about Eriksen and one of them (non spurs fan) called him the new Juan Mata, in that he meant that he has reached his mid twenties and maybe he is now on the decline.
I completely agree with this and remember Mata being a seriously good player and then took a very quick decline into an average footballer. Maybe due to the fact that Eriksen started his career so early, that he has reached his limit and is now on the decline? That’s no excuse for him, but I think it could potentially be true and from now on he may get one more move, but ultimately become a so-so squad player.
It's sad that Eriksen has so mishandled his own departure from the time in summer when he first declared he was 'open to new experiences' but would stay if necessary. He'd have been better insisting much earlier last season that he wouldn't be renewing a contract due to end by summer 2020, then still 15-16 months away. The club could then have tried to get £200m for him or £20m, whatever, it wouldn't have mattered in the overall scheme of things.I think they are quite similar players, both quite slow for AM's although their creativity is their key attribute. That's why i feel Eriksen is not going to be as successful as he was for us at any major club (that and mentality) He's not good enough for a big team to build around. I feel he may be coming around to the realization that no major team is really interested and has lost a bit of love for football.
Wouldn't be surprised if we start seeing a drop in his Danish performances too.
Also I really hope Poch isn't being 'encouraged' to play him in a vain attempt to get a fee for him in January. (struggling to find justification)

Months of the Eriksen lovers banging on about how he is irreplaceable and anyone that didn’t rate him was clueless about football, now they resort to defending him by comparing him to a woefully out of form Dele, a player that isn’t even in the team for his creativity, laughable really.
Give GLC every minute you can Poch and hopefully we’ll see someone with commitment and not just running near the ball for the sake of stats.
Teams press a lot more than they used to. Mata and Eriksen are about as press resistant as a wet paper bag. Teams have learned that you just need to put a body on them and they start panicking.
