True, but he's four months younger than Eriksen, and in the middle of his prime years. It makes sense to replace Eriksen with an equally established player. He's prem proven too.

I'm trying so hard to believe we'll get any of these three AMs in. Least of all PC, unless on some creative loan deal and first dibs on Kane!

PC would have little re-sale value by the time we'd spit him out

Nah

I've said it a few times, some people shouldn't bother with the ITK because they can't read the tea leaves of it and will just spin it however they want to fit their own views which for me makes ITK kinda pointless if your reaction is predetermined. I have an opinion on all of this of course but you have to take what Ali Z is saying verbatim and not spin it.

I don't think it's spinning it at all to infer that the fact he's even mentioning a rebuilding job next summer means that it's looking far from certain that that won't be the case. He's basically saying if we don't get it done now, that doesn't smack of confidence to me. It sounds like things are in the balance and this is what happens when you play the brinkmanship game and leave everything to the last minute.

Although related, I really don't get the feeling that we have to sell to fund the incoming players, more that it has thrown a spanner in the works and we have had to shift targets and replacements to cover him leaving. Especially for a player who it seems doesn't want to be here.

Absolutely, it sounds very much like we expected him to commit, and now he won't its thrown the plans into a bit of chaos, and whilst Lo Celso was first choice if he stayed, maybe he's not if he goes............

If he's really burnt his bridges and wants out desperately just to go to United then that's incredibly bizarre

Yup. Do you think when he and Poch were playing uppies, under their breath they were saying "you're a ****", "No, you're a ****"...it's possible

Yeah and how you've read it is correct but if you read other posts, they're making out that Ali Z has basically said we will be rebuilding next summer. As you said it currently hangs in the balance and need to act to avoid it.

Can only see Barca allowing Coutinho, if we do a loan with option.
can see this happening if we can agree terms with Coutinho. Levy would probably sanction the option to buy. I've been enamored with him ever since the bale hattrick game!

Didn't Barca play Arsenal in Miami when Poch said that Levy was there? Maybe he wasn't at his holiday home after all?

Edit: Ignore me the game was at the Camp Nou

Wires crossed. Barca are playing at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Weds. Interesting...

I'm not sure that this is true. We were aware at the beginning of the TW, and before, of the possibility of CE leaving for one of the 2 Spanish clubs, probably RM. That being the case, I can't believe that we didn't identify a replacement then and maybe even start preliminary negotiations. IIRC we even had ITK that this was the case, so it's just a case of whether or not CE actually goes.

Sounds like whatever happens, there’ll be incomings enough to give us a full squad. It’ll be open to debate whether or not we’re happy with the signings, but with this much activity going on it seems impossible they it’ll just be Sessegnon. The wheelbarrow has been brought out of the shed- destination (as ever), Spain!

Gards isn't sounding quite so upbeat. He's just been asked, on a scale of 1 to 10, "How confident are you that we'll get deals done by the deadline?". His reply was "6".

That’s fine, but I am not sure how reliable Gards info is any more? I thought he was a friend of David Bentley?

Sorry if I am wrong. Just not certain he is as reliable now as he was a number of years ago?

Also, he is a VERY emotional poster on Twitter.

it's better than 5 i guess :nailbiting:

when there is a little over 48 hours of the window left it's hard to be confident i would think as we've been down this road before

With regards Eriksen, he's refusing to resign and he's gone all sulky since his Madrid move has gone south. Now maybe it's just a short term strop and should he end up staying things might change but Poch is ruthless when players do this sort of thing. This is why BF has come into the mix. I expect him to go up North now but we are leaving ourselves in real trouble if we don't get the players in we want.

We are a long way down the road with them so they can be done in time, but at this stage of window it's easy for things to change within hours. Just hope Levy has played it right in regards our ins.

I'm told we're still confident and there will definitely be signings but it's simply a case that we will have to wait and see.

Thats reasonable, because there is so many moving pieces here - Eriksen,Pogba, GLC, BF all are interconnected at so many levels. This is the domino transfer IMO this transfer window is waiting for
