Liverpool St station after the game yesterday, I witnessed a group of around 6 teenagers, must’ve been about 16 yrs old. A spurs fan walked past them and one of the group (let’s call him Dave) started singing ‘we scored the first goal, in your shithole, we scored the first goal, in your shithole’. So I figured they were West Ham fans. Except one of Dave’s mates then punched Dave straight in the face, bringing a reasonably loud cheer from passer by’s and causing Dave to aggressively rant at his mate whilst simultaneously trying not to cry. The Spurs fan just carried on walking past and was laughing at what he’d just seen.

Then a massive black guy who must’ve been about 6ft 10 carrying a child in his arm walked up to them all and said pretty much word for word ‘firstly, you didn’t score the first goal there, we did, and secondly, is it really a shithole though? Is it? Sing shit songs, get punched in the face mate’. And then he just walked back to the bench he was sitting on. Glorious.

It was so surreal. I can only assume Dave’s mate was a Spurs fan who had just had enough of Dave’s shit. Then the way Dave looked at the 6ft 10” guy was beautiful. Pure, genuine fear in his eyes.

Some random guy in a Spurs scarf then went up to Dave’s mate and high fived him. Dave kept his mouth shut. Dave learnt his lesson.

Typical really, we’re playing Everton and it’s a West Ham fan causing all the shit.
Haha, don't be like Dave.

Show's how dim the ATV bunch are.

If we both lose our respective finals then we get to play Champions league football again next season and they don't.

We actually gain the bragging rights more in that scenario.

Oh what a night, watching Tottenham on a Wednesday night....

So last Friday afternoon the office gooner came over and said how he was chuffed that we'd won as it did them a favour.

I must have looked a bit puzzled so he explained that as the winners got into next year's Champions league and as the Premier league also get 4 places that would mean that Arsenal would qualify.

I haven't bothered to tell him he's wrong. I'd rather let him go on believing Spurs have helped them out.

I do wish I could be there, though, when he finds out.:D

So it’s called the Europa League then. None of you emailed to tell me, bustards.

Robbie on AFTV is asking everyone if they would prefer Tottenham to win the CL and they win Europa or that both win nothing. They are all saying they prefer both to win nothing. Shows how small minded and obsessed with us they are. They would prefer to stay in the Europa.
In the unlikely event of the situations being reversed how would we vote ? I’m more interested in us being in CL than what they do....
Hopefully we win and they lose to really make their summers .

Lol. You talk about them being obsessed by us yet watch aftv?

Agree it's petty and i sometimes watch aftv for the laughs. But lets not be hypocritical.

I just want to say before I say the following that I in no way support how either owner acts at home or their views on human rights.

However I think that there is a clear distinction between Chelsea and City. Your post I think perfectly sums up Chelsea.

But from what I understand City's owners have invested heavily in the local community and have done a fair bit to help the underprivileged in the area. They have also been relatively pragmatic in building their squad. Yes they have spent large amounts on players but their record signing has been to date Mahrez if I remember correctly, and at 60m is not obscene in today's market.

As I say I do not condone or excuse the actions of their owners and it is difficult to ignore. But take the elephant in the room out the equatio they are a very well run football club.

they wasn't before the new owners took over, and after spending a billion + they have now built a structure that means only having to buy 1 or 2 players, just like Chelsea did. the 1st few years of their ownership the spend loads and 1 day that will mean being able to run well. for 2 teams that have been pretty dominant in the youth leagues, yet again buying the best and over paying them (some on more than what our lower earners are on), and yet hardly any of them play for their own club, the are either loaned or sold.

well run yet both clubs pay not far from what Man U do in wages

You wrote the following,

which in my books is excusing them. If you didn't mean it as an excuse then I apologise for the interpretation, but those things are exactly what Abu Dhabi want you to focus on, they are the distractions to keep us occupied away from the truth about them and their wealth.

Look at the (sort of) comeuppance Abramovich has received, not being allowed into the country, having trouble with getting permissions to build a stadium, and so on. Had he invested more into the club and the area instead of just the squad of players, and tried harder to portray himself as a "good guy", would the same still have happened? Possibly not.

And I in no way would have Brian Kidd or any other staffer prosecuted for anything Abu Dhabi does. They take their salary, which can be morally questioned but there was a football club there before Abu Dhabi and there will be one after they sell too.

Anyway, this isn't the right thread to go into deep debate (this is), so I think I'll leave the Grammar thread alone now.

I also said "As I say I do not condone or excuse the actions of their owners and it is difficult to ignore."

I think our principles are exactly the same, hence me jumping straight on your response.

Had Liverpool won it from City the only narrative would’ve been the epic come from behind triumph over the old champions. City wouldn’t have been a patronising “great” second place.
But Liverpool never won it did they, so we'll never know and even more to the point, you're guessing and basing it on your obviously massive hatred for Liverpool :p

I don't like Liverpool but blimey, you got it so bad you need antibiotics or something ;)

I'm not sure why people give a fuck about whatever narrative is supposed to be, the press are mainly full of enough shit anyway, complaining about what you're guessing they'd have said isn't even adding a turd to the top of the pile.

The trouble is any "good" they do is a rather transparent attempt to improve their image in the West i.e. "don't worry about all the horrific human rights abuses, look at this shiny new community centre and join in the title winning celebrations! See we're not so bad afterall" Any good they've done has a not-so-well-hidden agenda and is far outweighed by the bad things they've done.

EIther way that's not really relevant to the point I was making, which was to say that it's not comparible to e.g. Man Utd spending lots of money during the SAF years and therefore not every title is "bough" in the same way as City and Chelsea have done it.
As for the money spent, OK so they haven't blown their load on some Neymar-esq 200m quid signing, but in total they've spent several billion I believe.

I don't care about Man City winning it all.
I know one fan and that fan didn't even like football a few years ago, rarely pretends to know anything and actually lives in Manchester.

Also, if City are winning it all, it means United, Arsenal and Liverpool aren't. Which means none of us have to put up with them.

No lesser philosopher than Jamie Vardy once wrote: "Chat shit, get banged".

Vincenzo (one for the old-timers around here) now understands the meaning of this wisdom.

Feel the same way. City are such a faceless puppet of middle eastern oil money, it's almost like no English side won the Prem. Liverpool would be insufferable winners.

Going back to ‘What other fans are saying about us’ over on RAWK, they think the finals already won, that while we are a ‘Good’ team, they are an ‘Elite’ one.

While i can appreciate the football Liverpool play, the fans are absolute bellends.

Hmm everyone I know refers to it as the Europa League.

I did chuckle at how their semi final win and Aubameyang's hat trick kept being referred to as a 'European semi/HT' rather than Europa League, almost like they were masking that it was in the 2nd tier competition.

How many spurs fans say we were the first english club to win a european trophy?
