I love international fans personally.

I had no choice in supporting Spurs. I was born in Chingford and my Dad is a Spurs fan.

An international fan however looked at all of the teams in the world, and for some strange reason thought to himself "I like that Tottingham Hotspurs". When you think about it, that is the opposite of glory hunting. In actual fact, choosing to support Spurs is crazy. It's a special type of crazy that I love. In fact, it is just the type of crazy that I think would fit right in with our support :)

European away games are fantastic meeting spurs fans from other countries. Really fun.

well bvb have a big advantage in this game .. first is the home advantage in the second leg .. secondly spurs is in title hunt, atleast they will try for top 4 and bvb is already 15 points clear of 3rd which makes bvb in a pole position to put a strong team in europa and second team in the league games, but thats not the case with spurs ..
This is exactly the thing that will fuck us over and keep us from winning the tie (imo).

Agreed. No doubt that Dortmund has an enormous advantage when it comes to respective allocations of focus. Thing is, despite how much I was actually hoping for this exact tie, I still hope that Poch fields a similar squad to yesterday's. If anything confers us an advantage, it's our depth (thanks to our sugar daddy), and so I think we should utilize it.

But don't we play villa between the two games? That's like having a rest if they keep playing like they have been!

Because betting odds are based on how many people are betting on said teams, hence why Liverpool always figure near the favourites for every title as Scousers keep giving bookies all their money regardless of how good they actually are.
That's settled it then.

I'm opening a betting shop in Liverpool.

Just seen on skybet scouse are 3rd faves to win europa behind dortmund and seville! how the fuck has that happened?

Thursday used to be benefit day, so suppose a few scoucers have used their benefits today instead of food on the table.

I want to clarify my comments RE football hipsters.

It annoys me seeing english/american/wherever the fuck you're from "fans" saying they support Barca, Real, Bayern just because they win things. Nothing winds me up more than going on to twitter and seeing Corey from Slough putting 'Born Madrista, hala madrid' in his twitter bio.

Saying you're a Dortmund fan when you aren't german is potentially the most hipster thing of all time. They had one amazing season and fucking Deshawn from Ohio decides he has actually supported them his whole life and wants the world to know it.

And for the record...if you chose to adopt spurs as your team...i dont think you're a hipster or a glory hunter...i think you're insane.
Hurumph, I've been supporting St Pauli since before it was cool

If I follow any foreign teams which I don't much anyway but its always if they have a nice kit.

At 6th grade, my friends and I had a wager (yeah, kinda young I know, but just for fun hah) on scorer of France 98 WC matches. I only supported Germany then, not sure why, but presumably because I picked them to support as a football watching kid and they just went on to win the Euro 96. It stuck since.

So, with my book of stickers I used to collect for the WC tournament to know the players better, I only flipped to Germany squad page to select the striker to bet my wager on. Briefly remembered Klinsmann was great in the Euro 96, I chose him to score in France 98 WC for my bet. Then I realised the indication of the club he was playing then was a name I was totally not familiar with, Tottenham Hotspur? What?

Was he not from utd, arse, liverfool even forest and Newcastle, Blackburn or Everton? Come on, he had to be! He was a great player and he ought to play in such clubs right? These were the famous clubs I knew from my friends who were fans. Tottenham Hotspur? No one in my circle supported them. None. I had my doubt if I should carry my bet actually. Seriously.

I can't remember if I won my bet, but what I knew was two years after Germany was stuck as my favourite national team, Tottenham Hotspur was stuck as my favourite club soon after my love for Klinsmann continued. And with much research on his club, despite the short stint of his stay, it was enough for my next sticker book, an EPL version, to have Tottenham Hotspur squad page completed in all the stickers collected. (But fuck I did not keep it with me now.)

So now here I am, joint-crazy in supporting Spurs. Yes, is crazy I agree. And you guys are crazy, and I like you guys are crazy, as I am, as we all are. All my friends and people I know are always in awe I'm a Spurs. But I'm very proud as a Singaporean Spurs, in my almost two decades of time as one.

Point of order, they SHARED the Intertoto. I think there were 3 winners that year. Still a remarkable achievement, well done West Ham

3 winners? Makes sense they'd celebrate, the Wet Spam owners love a threesome

Palace just beat them. They aren't unbeatable, so let's compound some misery on them!

Even more hopeful after that. It can be done. We can do it!

The way we've been defending corners a repeat of those stats could mean conceding double figures!

I'm hoping for a few sending offs mid week.

Another fan not understanding European football...

I'm one of the international supporters, and I did a bunch of "research" before choosing Spurs. As an American, I have gotten fed up with sport in the states. Everything is about the money and not the sport anymore. I grew up playing football, but with such little exposure in the states and the MLS being pretty terrible to watch until recently, I decided to look for a club to support in European football. The first few years supporting Spurs were a little hard as we weren't very good, but with much more experience in watching all of European football I can honestly say I think I made the best choice. I'm proud to be an (international) Lilywhite!

I am (or, rather, was as I moved to the UK in 1999) an International fan. As a 8 year old aussie in 1981 I had little or no interest in Soccer - but my Turkish mate from across the road followed Spurs so fuck it - I did too.

Any regrets?

No fucking way.

I was an american who really only paid attention during the world cup. I had a substitute teacher for a class I took in high school back in 2006 who was from London, so I asked who he supported and he said Tottenham. I hadn't heard of them since most of my friends that watched the prem liked arsenal or liverpool or chelsea. When i started watching Premier league soccer in 2008-09 when I went to college I started watching Spurs. What a ride it's been.

Whoa... whoa... there! Let's back up a bit... Just purely for my own clarification.... You of presumably sound, body and mind... of your own free will and volition...... Of all the football teams in all the world......

You chose to support Tottingham Hotspur...

Hmmmm.... A curious case indeed.

Have you ever suffered with issues of low self worth, displayed masochistic tendencies, or maybe harboured thoughts of self harm?

Clearly a rather acute case of impeccable taste. Highly infectious, the victim is likely to suffer from the (very) occasional high followed by sustained periods of agonizing lows and excruciating attacks of optimism. Take 2 or 3 90 minute sessions a week until the symptoms start to disappear.

N.B. Always read the label and use strictly as directed. Do not exceed recommended daily dose. If symptoms persist or you have adverse side effects such as sore throat, swelling or numbness, seek professional help!

I am from Singapore and I have supported Spurs since 2006, wouldn't exactly call myself a glory hunter either as well

2006 here too. I'm from New York but my best mate's dad from high school was a huge Tottenham fan (he even took us to 2 matches during our CL season) and considering almost all the kids I hated at school were Arsenal fans I just had to go with Spurs. I'd just like to say that the gooners here are not so different from those across the pond. They're all Wilshere/Jenkinson wannabes. I'd love to finally gloat in their faces after picking some "crap" team ten years back.
