If the rumour - that Spurs had agreed to sign a player/Linetty - was in Daily Mail or The Sun or any other English paper few, if any, would take it as a fact so why should a rumour in a Polish paper necessary be believed then
No need to react as if he has signed and just treat it as one of many rumours floating around

Not the first time we've been linked with this guy. Iirc, we had it on a decent source that we had been scouting him last summer.

I don't know if you remember but you seem to like him a lot:

"There's a scouting video that pops up when you google him (I'd never heard of him), and I have to say that despite it being against poor competition, his passing ability and accuracy is extremely sharp and creative. Passing accuracy is also more level issue to evaluate across leagues of course, as opposed to dribbling considering the quality of the defenders.

Could be a bullshit link, but from that video and considering his age I certainly wouldn't be opposed."

"I like the look of Linetty a lot. Incredible vision and passing versatility, and has filled out quite a bit lately and so is actually quite strong. "

Yup, I do remember being impressed with him for his vision for his age. Whether it would come off for him in the Prem and when is another issue, but it's clear he does have some excellent vision and the passing ability to see it through.

I suppose you can never have too many promising youth players, but I would be slightly confused by this signing, especially with Winks in the Academy. Also, if we do sign Linetty, it would almost certainly suggest that Carroll has no future with us.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well. Disposing of Carroll for this guy makes no sense to me, even if this Pole is more robust.

I think we're just going to have to trust Poch, Mitchell and Co if this happens.

Linetty seems to be a dm who can also attack (6 goals and 6 assists this season I think). With Capoue out we only have Stambouli. Maybe he's off to Marseilles or somewhere?

My impression is he's the No 8 in a 4-2-3-1, and so is listed in many places as a DM when he's just a holding midfielder who can get forward. Nonetheless, I think Stambouli will probably leave this summer anyway.

Interesting bit of info about the player from r/coys

"I'm Polish and seen him play. He is very much like Holtby, but a bit underdeveloped. He hasn't shined in the national team, but had a few good games for Lech. He was supposed to be chased by Arsenal. I personally think, that he is overpriced and I do not think he'll be good enough for us."

*Insert deflating balloon gif here*

Will this mean that Stambouli will be off to Marseilles?

Not Marseille - he said he wants to stay in England.

Yeah, I was definitely hoping for something more along the lines of 'really talented player, am surprised no one else has gone in for him, could immediately get into our first team, is a snip at that price' - it wa basically the opposite

Oh well, as others have said, if it's true we'll just have to trust our scouts

Lech star of the new season at Tottenham!

It's practically a foregone conclusion. Karol Linetty bids farewell to Lech Poznan. Young lechita will play against Wisla Krakow their last meeting in the colors of "Kolejorz". From the new season is expected to be Tottenham player!

The interest in "Spurs" Linettym talked for a long time. It was known that the English club is determined to transfer the star of Lech. All the time, however, remained a mystery deadline by which the club from White Hart Lane decides to carry out the transfer. Now I know that this will happen in the summer. Poznan club will lose one of their leaders, but earns a sizeable amount. Tottenham is willing to pay for lechitę several million euros. It is probably the amount of about four "bubbles". Transfer Linettego was probably speaks in the winter.Managers footballer "Kolejorz" hosted then in London, where they agreed the details of his client moving to the English Premier League. At one point it seemed that the Roosters' decide to finalize the transfer as early as January, but it was finally agreed to wait until the end of the season. Lech wanted to Linetty helped the team in the fight for the title. Tottenham first offer download Linettego issued this summer last year. Then, however, to move to the English Premier League did not decide alone footballer, who wanted to gain more experience in the Polish league. Player "Kolejorz" caught the eye of Tottenham's envoys during performances in the Polish youth national teams, where he always belonged to team leaders. The White Hart Lane will be one of those players who, in the near future will decide about the strength of the team from north London.

Bubbles? West Ham?? No deal! NO DEAL!!!

Perfect signing. Exactly what we need. Very impressive that the scouts are so on top of their game. I literally didn't expect it.
Now, let me head over to wikipedia to find out where he plays on the pitch. :hilarious:
