Because people didn't want to risk missing out on Christmas catching covid. The new strain seems ridiculously easy to get and while evidence so far suggests it's not as bad, you still have to isolate. Lots of people missed Christmas last year due to lockdowns so people don't want to be missing two in a row.

First off I'm not at all condoning animal cruelty.

Kurt Zouma had been fined heavily by his club £250,000 pound sterling had his cat taken away. Abused on the terraces by fans some racial thrown in for good messure. Fined £9,000 by the court and given 180 hours community service with a 5 year ban on having another cat.

That's 5 separate punishments.

Some things don't add up.

It's four punishments and it's all pretty easy to understand no?

He brought his club into disrepute. He got fined by them and rightly so - they had to look like they gave a shit and not playing him obviously wasn't ever an option for them.

The other three punishments come all by way of the courts. Pretty standard.

I really don't won't the scale bad behaviour, stupidity, cruelty, a few sing songs or crime...but the punishment fitting the crime in this case seems off.

Apparently any French citizen prosecuted a broad can still face charges in France. They are looking for him to receive the maximum 4 year jail sentence because there was a child witnessing the cruelty.
