We rode our luck in this game, on another day, it could have easily gone our way. Sadly today was not it. It doesn't help that the drop in quality from our ideal starting 11 is quite stark, especially at the back.

Ref let a lot of things go, which was a good change from the usual VAR stop/start action. I thought Son was rather quiet today, I would have expected him to get more involved.

Worst performance of the season even if we had won. Thought Emerson, Bissouma and Sarr in particular were really poor.

It could easily been worse earlier in the game if Wolves would've taken advantage of all their fixed situations and been sharper in the final third.

I didn't even complain about the first Wolves goal. It was coming, and it was good. :D The game just highlighted how some of our players just aren't good enough. I know Ange puts a lot of faith in character, but sometimes you also need the fundamentals in skill.

For a long while I'd big up our CBs, but difficult to do so in the end.
Will always let us down.

Can’t complain at the effort, can complain at some of the decision making near the end. Or can I? Do I only want us to not play time wasting hoofs if the result goes our way?

Anyhow, a small shout for GLCs cameo, including tackle of the season. Ironically, if he hadn’t made it, chances are we escape with a draw.

Porro our best player

Vic 7
Porro 8
Dier 6 (would have been a 7 had he not kicked the ball into touch in the lead up to their equaliser)
Davies 7
Royal 6
Bissouma 6 (Needs to extend passing range)
PEH 6
Sarr 6 (Unable to get on the ball today)
Johnson 6
Son 5 (Nothing stuck to him and seemed reluctant to shoot)
Deki 7

Bentancur 7 (Has a presence)
Lo Celso 7 (Great shot to nearly make it 2-0)
Gill 7 (Very tidy and involved)

I felt we lost the midfield battle today. Subs were good. Stunning goal for the equiliser

The second goal was a bad one to concede. Felt like the defensive unit switched off or failed to decide who to track the runner/block/cover. Dier and PEH were involved and someone else was; not sure if it was Davies. It's disappointing because it could have been stopped and it wasn't like they exploited an individual weakness.

I think it's Porro for me. I think it was shocking we started with 3 attackers. That for me is negative, always negative. Minimum 4 at all times with one being in the middle of the park like Maddison. Someone has to feed the attackers with clever passes.

I wasn't happy with Dier, Davies or PEH simply because I think they are poor on the ball. Some of the simple passes from PEH to unmarked players and missing them by a few yards was inexcusable. And I can't believe he didn't follow Lemina all the way. That last goal was criminal from Davies and PEH.

For me the only rating I'm giving is Ange. 3 for the starting line up and taking so long to getting more attackers on the pitch. I think he just got it so wrong today. I think he panicked and didn't back players that meet his philosophy better. They don't need to be proven PL players, they need to be players that suit his style

Most disappointed by Bissouma today. As someone else said, not been at the races since the Luton game. Needed him to step up with Maddison out, but he went missing. Sonny ran himself into the ground on Monday and was sluggish and careless with the ball. For all the moaning about Davies and Dier being selected, they coped well for 90 minutes, sadly the loose ball into touch by Dier and the subsequent quick throw in caught him napping for the first, and the quick free kick caught everyone out for their winner.

Just felt the system was all wrong today.
Too many right sided players on the left.
Sarr was totally misused on the left as when he got into positions he just has to go backwards, and alongside, Royal and Johnson it all got a bit stuck down that side

Also moving Sarr effected Kulu and Porro who without Sarr's cover was unable to support Kulu as much and led to him being isolated and with no option outside him or overlapping he (Kulu) can become quite predictable.
Biss seems a shadow of the player he has been since the Luton game
Almost like he's playing within himself or even worse with fear of losing his place.
Needs to cut that shit out.

Son worked hard but was pretty ineffective.

Dier, Davies and PEH just meh.

Porro was good apart from a couple of dodgy moments like back heeling the ball to keep it in on halfway only to set them up for a counter.

Gil looked bright. Bentancur still looks well short, Gio added something different.
But by that time the momentum was very much with wolves. with the crowd fully behind them I felt we could've made the proactive changes a lot sooner to change the way the game appeared to be heading.

At least Udogie is back next game.

Felt Ange got the selection wrong. If Maddison is out then the obvious replacement is Lo Celso. He stepped in for him in the pre season games and did really well.
There was really no excuse for putting out such a midfield devoid of creativity. Once again he was slow to make substitutions. Despite only one shot on goal in the first half he didn’t seem to think taking off Hojbjerg for Lo Celso was worth a try. Very disappointing.
Bissouma’s form is odd. Not been the same player since his red card. We really needed him to dominate the midfield today but for the most part he was pedestrian.
In many ways the exertions of Monday took their toll, mentally and physically, on the team.
Hopefully the international break will reinvigorate both Ange and the players.

Finally had time to watch the games. Was worried when I saw the starting side. With a defence we know was very much second string and no creative players in the pitch I couldn’t see us being able to play the Ange way.

Anyway Porro for me. Gio should have started, with Bentancur not yet fit as sub. Systems are OK but you need quality and not just effort on the pitch

I think the yellow card tight rope he was walking was the issue. I think he will be ok now for the next 2 months, before his next suspension!!!
