It's a tough choice 
Some good performers out there and some mixed performances.
Sarr didn't look his usual self and appeared to be second guessing everything.
PEH came on and did well initially, but his lack of press resistance reared it's head again with a big mistake that led to a few in quick succession.
Again Porro wasn't at his best but great strike for the goal. Although he needs to get out of this habit of diving in for things and not winning them
Johnson did well as did Werner (although the latter needs to follow Johnson's recent uptake in tracking back as he often left Udogie 2 v 1 with a half hearted jog back.
Kulu's confidence appears to be in the shitter ATM, hopefully we can get him some meaningful minutes to turn it around
Maddison was bright early on and appeared to be clicking back into the swing with Bissouma but after the equalizer he (and Biss) both wilted a bit.
We moved the ball quicker than we have for a while though which was nice to see.

VDV was immense, Son was invisible, just like he was in the other two games against Fulham and West Ham

I think that's pretty obvious.. He struggles against the low block and a teams with a physical nature
VDV outstanding and clear MOTM. Honourable mention for Werner who was easily our most likely and threatening forward by some distance.
Son struggling at CF but credit for laying it off for VDV goal. Sarr just doesn’t do enough against a low block. Madds still struggling to make a difference and good to see Gio get a run and move the ball quickly.
Credit Ange for changing it up at HT, PEH was outstanding for 25 minutes then dropped concentration worryingly. Bent looking better and a good half. These two improved the midfield. Another nice little cameo from GLC.

I'm not a Hojbjerg-hater, but his mistake was truly awful and then he immediately made another mistake. He really has that in his locker.
Kulu also was surprisingly bad when he came on.
But VDV, wow. What a player.
We were clearly the better side, by a mile, and we made a bit of a meal of it (again) but came through.
Thank god Wood missed that sitter.
EDIT: I neglected to mention Hojbjerg was otherwise really good.

Feels like much of the same good and bad stuff again. First 15-20 or so were really promising, especially the build-up for the first goal (fast, accurate, incisive passing) then the midfield fell apart - and I include the full-backs in that. Second half was much better as usual but final ball was still not quite on point.

Midfield. It’s true that we’re always looking to go forward, but when things break down we have got to bust a gut to get back. The way we play tends to leave us one-on-one at the back so if we get caught out it’s an almost automatic overload. You can’t just jog back and watch, you have to work to help the defence out for any second or third ball. That’s one of the key things Hojbjerg does.
The midfield was better early on but just completely fell apart after 20 mins. We weren’t linking up well, we weren’t chasing back properly, we weren’t keeping the ball. Bentancur helped us keep the ball, Hojbjerg protected the defence and they both helped link things together. I’m not sure I’d want Hojbjerg starting against all the good teams we still have to play, but he is genuinely useful against low block teams who like to break.
And I do get that Hojbjerg makes mistakes, but some people truly seem to just see those and don’t see the bigger-picture improvements when he comes on.. He’s not going to be here much longer but I’m glad he’s here now, and sadly that might be the case with Lo Celso as well. I really liked how Lo Celso tried to take the game by the scruff of the neck when he came on, and at times it exposed the deficiencies of those around him. You could see his frustration when others weren’t making the obvious, clever moves, particularly the…
Forwards. God we missed Richarlison today, Son runs around a lot and pressures the keeper well at times but otherwise his presence was sorely lacking for the most part. Just imagine Toney playing up front today. Despite nearly scoring a lovely goal and (eventually) feeding VDV for the second I just don’t think Son was involved enough. Werner was his usual self, generally effective and scaring the oppo but the final ball is a bit of a coin flip. They worked hard to counter Brennan Johnson but i thought he did well, although once again we missed a couple of goals by failing to attack the far post.
Job done though. The Newcastle game is almost impossible to predict, and then it’s the madness. I just hope Richarlison is back, and that we can find some more rhythm. I worry that there is such a long gap before the scum, but hopefully Son can recharge and others can get back into form. Maybe playing against really good teams again will help us.

Very obvious one this week. Has to be VDV, who is fast (every pun intended) turning out to be one of the signings of the season for ALL EPL clubs.
Special mention to Werner too. Thought he played well and was an absolute nuisance, which of course is what he's paid to be.

We looked a different team when Bentancur and Hojbjerg came on. The intensity immediately went right up and we got hold of a game that was slipping away. Hope Bissouma and Sarr take note of what's required. GLC also did way better than Maddison imo.
