Wasnt a great first half. First twenty minutes of the second, with the changes instrumental, were eletric.

If Udgoie doesnt do that, we'd of cruised home.

Richarlison was clear MOTM....hold up and work rate was phenominal.

Romero was also very good.

Werner did well and so did Johnson.

I do think we miss Sarr massively and Bentancur is definitely not in his rythym yet.

Captain Cuti was my MOTM. Very imposing at the back

We look a bit ragged these days, as said above this looks like you'd have expected us to play as we were starting this season. We have scraped a home win over Brentford and don't look close to a title winning outfit atm.

Anyway starting with the positives..Werner (7.5), as stated above made our other wingers look poor(not hard). The forward line for me is Werner/Son/Richie from now on with Kulu and Johnson coming on.
Romero (8) continues to be steady calming the jitters around him . VdV(7) was OK. Mads(7) showed that he's back with us mentally, good stuff.

Richie 7) always gets a vote for his efforts.

On to the less happy side of things. Bents(5) are you being honest with management over your Cash injury ? No surprise he was hooked at HT...well done PEH (6.5 btw) Bent's ceiling is so far above what he's doing now that I'm thinking its injury related, worrying.

Kulu's (5) form continues to fall away. He's been a nailed on starter for so long and clearly needs competition. I'm sure a Werner/Richie/Son forward line will be the no 1 for the rest of the season so he'll get it.
Udogie (6) gets a pass for causing 2 goals because he's so good in general..and he got one back.

and on to Mr controversy, Johnson(5). His fans are drooling over his one yard tap in. Good he got there ofc, but he did nothing else as far as I could see. He's a good lad and will be good off the bench hopefully, but I haven't seen any sign of a 47 mill player yet.

Imagine, for some situations at least, a front three of Werner, Son and Johnson.

Some pace.

Werner was MOM for me.

First half - he got into several very good positions but was let downs by his final ball. He was however the only one to offer a threat.

Second half - he was very direct and clinical, assisting both the first and second goals which turned the game on its head.

Richarlison worked very hard, defence was decent with the exception of Udogie’s kamikaze moments. Hojbjerg also did well again outside of him switching off for the 2nd game in a row and nearly costing us a goal.

Is it just me or did the team just look ragged and disjointed for the entire first half and parts of the second? You’d think, four or five months into the system, you’d see continued improvement. The game I watched today, is what I was expecting to see in our first ten matches. I expected the likes of Udogie and Porro to have some uncomfortable moments, while adjusting. But today was like they were both taking turns having brain farts. Unfortunately for Udogie, his were a tad more serious.

That said, I have to remind myself that this is a team with players returning to health, some new faces, and still a lengthy list of absentees.

Richy, Madders, Timo, VdV, Romero, PEH, Johnson were all good.

Defintely not our best outing, but with Sarr, Biss, Sonny, and even Solomon returning… along with Benta, VdV, Madders getting match sharp, we need to win ugly, if we are to even have a chance of finishing top 5.
I think the fact we are this many games in and are starting to notice a few issues is more down to other teams trying different things to stifle us. Clubs have so much data driven info now. They can work out how to play us. So yeah we probably had to change how we were playing to combat that a little. But in essence we weee way too slow in the first half. And in the second half. We were sloppy in possession.

Good - werner, Richy, Maddy, Skipp (I thought he did well first half, seemed to understand he is box to box and tried to get the ball into attacking areas. Don't think he was helped by a sloppy Bentancur.

Poor - Bentancur, Kulu

Brentford star player - Udogie. Key role in both of their goals, and unlucky OG to bring spurs back into the game. Felt sorry for the lad today. His two fcuk ups for the goals was nuts, and he also played a lot of balls back to Vic today. But when he had his moments of clarity, he actually did really well. Proper jekyll and Hyde moments.
Thing is with Udogie is I honestly believe it’s an over confidence of youth thing. Ange trust players to do their thing and like a few of our players they are guilty of doings but too much. An extra man to beat, an extra touch to take, an extra pass back into troublesome areas. I’m hoping we all settle down and mature in this regard - calmer heads and an understanding when and what risk to take.

That over confidence suits him though. It means he is brave doing stupid things that come off. But as he matures, he will reduce those mistakes and be a top world class left back
