Such a brain dead sending off. You’d be fuming with him if you were a team mate or the manager.

City are obviously operating on cheat mode with their financial doping, but you have to give them some credit for spending the money in a very canny way. They don’t really buy ready made superstars (Haaland the exception) and they make clubs who also spend shitloads, like United, look embarrassing in the process.
Yeah they were smart enough to hire Bergiristain and get everything in place for Pep.

It also helps that Pep, because he's so systematic, requires players who have a requires skillset to fit into his system (high technical ability).

They are not interested in players with high stats (besides Haaland). They do use data but it's a little more subtle and the players have to be able to do what pep requires.

Contrast to United, who are more attracted to players who are at the top of their game (especially with stats) but then overlook how they fit into their system or if they can adapt to PL.

Varane and Casemiro are examples of 2 big names who may do well in time but there should be legitimate concerns about PL fit as they are less exposed to these rigours. Varane also struggled without Ramos besides him.

Then you have the double signing of Antony and Martinez. Ten Hag supposedly really wanted these 2 for his system, and only these 2. Yet theyve ended up being well over priced for 2 players who may have PL adaptation issues.

If that was Pep and City, they would have walked away. They rarely overpay because they put more value into the components of the squad balance and system.

By over spending on players, United leave no margin for error and have to play the player even if they struggle as they have to then justify the expense and hope they come good.

Maguire is an example because they can't just discard a 70m centre back. If he had cost 30m, theyd possibly be able to ditch them.

City don't overpay, and because the system works so well, that player is likely to have a small contribution which means they are still a valuable asset in the market.

It will be interesting to see what happens if guardiola doesn’t extend his contract and he leaves in the summer. I suspect he will extend but you never know. Who will they go for then?

What's the reason why this is the late kick off? Absolute waste of everyone's time to sit through this after the 6-3 derby.

My guess is that the derby was early both for policing reasons and for TV because the early kickoff means the TV channels can extend their pre-match buildup without it clashing with a game that's going on.

I’d like to suggest to the Leeds fans that it is, perhaps, THEY who are “not fit to referee” :cautious:

And they made clubs like the scum and chelscum turned stupid for paying loads for their unwanted players in Jesus and Sterling.

Disappointed in Shiteh. Took their foot off the gas pedal in the second half.

Golden rule, you don't just grind down the opposition you should also psychologically murder them if given the chance.

I agree, but October's a busy month for a lot of teams, so resting players when you get a chance isn't a bad idea in these circumstances.

I agree that right now it's doom and gloom, you always look for hope and it's a massive bummer.

It felt that way 20-odd years ago when the Russian took over at Chelsea and it felt that way when United, Arsenal and Chelsea were pretty much guaranteed to share the title and CL places between them. It's down to other clubs to find a way and to improve but that's no real consolation. It goes in cycles, this one, in time, will end too.

But generally, yeah, the money is the overriding factor. When Newcastle kick on the 'mini-league' fighting for 2nd to 4th will be competitive enough and is about all there is to hope for right now.

But you never know, if you're looking for a glimmer of hope, City are one injury away from coming back to the pack a bit I suppose.

It's going to take a monumental cash crisis amongst the double caked and dodgy owners in football to level the playing field.

They're also increasing the number of teams that can qualify for the Champions League soon so it won't just be a top four race any more.

Yeah he makes things look incredibly easy, whilst barely breaking a sweat.
It certainly helps having players like KDB sticking the ball on a 6 pence for him. But still, hard to see him not becoming one of the greats. Provided he avoids horrible injuries.

Got to fancy citeh for the champs league with him up top. Surely.

Yeah, those two combining are almost like a cheat mode on a computer game and in truth it could end up making things very boring and futile in the PL, but to be honest with the gooners in the form they are in at the moment I’m glad for it.
