I think we need to dampen our expectations of him to begin with, I get the impression he’ll be a slow burner and may frustrate at times but ultimately grow into becoming a world class box to box midfielder, give him time.
I think he’ll be the best central midfielder not named De Bruyne or Kante in the league, f dampening expectations.

The only expectations I'm tempering are the expectations of him being able to go a full 90 in Poch's system. His fitness hasn't been the best so I think we will need to accept him only going 60-70 min at a time for a while.

Why is he so ‘apparently’ unfit, he’s had a full pre season and played with France

Don't think anyone thinks he's "unfit", more like not fit enough for Poch's required levels of fitness

This is why I'm expecting a big season from Lucas this season. He showed promise early last season but even then was still tiring easily. Towards the end of the season he seems to be much fitter. Looking at him in preseason he looks very lean so I'm really hoping for the best.

I think there’s an element of fading during the pre season matches because they were straight off the back of pre season training sessions, far more brutal than in season training which presumably started 4 days ago, and the first time old Tanguy will have experienced them. I reckon he’ll have more than enough in the tank for the real thing. We all remember how much harder mock exams were than the real thing right?

Good analogy. I used to mess up my mocks but when it came to the crunch - I aced the crap out of them (by my standards anyways)

He’s class. You can just see he has it.

Notice the difference between a player like him and Dembele who was just so limited in his passing.

What I like about TN is he always knows what he’s going to do with the ball before he receives it. I remember his ex manager saying the same about him, he always seeks to make the right decisions and knows exactly where to put the ball, and he has the talent to execute it. He is extremely press resistant and the scary thing is he seems to play the game like he’s only at 50%.

Very excited and even more excited at seeing both him and Lo Celso together.
