Praise the lord. Newcastle are going through their Man City Hughes, Benjani phase and we need to capitalise.

I thought he struggled for large periods of the game and was poor in areas but as soon as we were winning I thought he was very good.

Shit first half, good second half (like most players). Ran more than anyone too. Unfortunately for him Skipp is better, maybe he can fight PEH for a position in first 11.

No fan of his but he wasn't the only one who was crap in the first half. Second half was better but glad Skipp is back next game.

Really, surprised as didn’t seem like it to me.
Mind you I would guess that most of the running was jogging around at half pace. He is not dynamic enough & muscled off the ball far too easily.

second half he was a different player. I'm having him over hojbjerg to partner skipp personally.

Winks over PEH? Pierre has his faults and limitations but he's certainly more driven and reliable than Winks. Mind you, I think we can upgrade on both Winks and PEH but until January, Skipp and PEH is the more structured and reliable CM pairing that can see out Conte's game plan IMO.

poor first half and put us in trouble couple of times. Much better in second when we got on the front foot and further up the pitch. Capable cover but not a starter for me.

I agree. I also think our CM performance today showed how much we really missed Skipp. I don't think a Hojbjerg/Winks combo gives us the security, control, possession/passing we need going both ways re transitions. We definitely have to sort all our options out in CM. We have a few, just a case of making it fit. I don't want to knock Winks; he did ok today but don't see him staying.

People aren’t seriously saying because we scraped a 2 - 1 win, that Winks is good enough are they? He’s utter shite. Coward of a footballer.

I cant take a lack of talent if he is giving his all. But he yet again bottled a couple of challenges. Go in 100% and get the crowd up and on your side surely....

Second half was better from him though.
