Emerson would be my captain just for the full circle in less than 12 months.

He's been brilliant.

Just don't think he's captain material.

Romero could rise with the responsibility - and cut the stupid shit.

And more importantly he has a fire in his belly that could inspire those around him...bit like Roy Keane.

I want a captain to make a difference when the chips are down...that's the measure of a good captain imo.

I don't want to see him leave but if bayern offer us as close to 100 mill as possible, and if he has indicated that he won't sign a new contract then I'd rather sell him this summer and invest the money in a replacement.

If he goes for free next summer then we're going to need to allocate a serious chunk of change for his replacement.

If we sold him this summer I'd like to see us go in for Osimhen as his replacement.

We have no chance with osimhen. Unrealistic.

You say that like keeping Kane guarantees CL. There are 6 teams ahead of us in the betting for top 4, and that's even with Kane.
Wasn't my intens, but witout him, we have zero chance of CL. No CF we can afford will make 30 in his first season in PL. Maybe Osimhen, but we wont splash the money on him

Really baffled why he’d want to join Bayern when he could wait a year and have his pick of anyone. There can’t be fewer meaningless title wins than Bayern winning the Bundesliga for the 12th time in a row. Given Lewandowski’s age, Barca could be an option next year. Or if he wanted to stay in the Prem, he could just pick the best Prem team to make him an offer. But Bayern? Unless they win the Champions League, there’s nothing special about their season. And given how poor they’ve been recently, you wouldn’t think they are close to winning that trophy. Has he really achieved all he’s done, just to cash it all in and play in a worse league for a team with no rivals to win the league? I’m so baffled unless it’s a play to get someone like Real Madrid to make a serious move.

Maybe, rather than offer him a new deal, but some good players, push the boat out and be ruthless with getting rid of the dozen players that need to be offloaded.

That would make Kane more likely to want to stay, showing you actually mean business.

Getting VDV, Tapsoba, tosin and amrabat wouldn’t cost the world but would resolve a lot if our issues and give us a good team and that is more likely to convince Kane to give it one more year.

Honestly don’t think anything is going to happen until Kane gets back next week and meets up with Ange, they suss each other out and cards get laid out on the table.

The only card in Levy’s hand is Ange selling the vision and persuading him to stay. I’m not getting my hopes up, but who knows.

But we're not going to replace him in terms of quality. To get 'Kane' it would cost upward of £180m+. And a player of that quality, ain't joining us at the moment. IMO, we have of goals in the team, Son, I'm quite sure will be back to his best, Richy, second season, can see him stepping up with quite a few, not forgetting Maddison will be giving these players more opportunities. But £100m would certainly improve the overall squad that's for sure.

Surely the compromise is a fat new contract with a 60mil release clause next season.

Means we have a year to prove we can move forward and if not Kane gets a move (without a prohibitive fee) without us losing him for nothing.

For Kane he gets an upgraded deal and flexibilitymoving forward. If it took a little loyalty (sign on bonus) payment then so be it.

There's not much upside for kane there. He can leave next year any way and what he would make over the next 4 years in wages and sign on would far eclipse the year with us.

Can’t imagine Ange is going to want this hanging over the club all summer

He seems like a shape up or fuck off kind of guy so hopefully we’ll know more when Kane is back

Cannot let this drag on like the Nuno summer shitshow

Can also get us 8th…

Whats that worth?

We had 3 different managers last season & scored more goals than United & Newcastle with Kane getting nearly half of them. We have a good chance of getting in the top 4 with a better defence & no European football.

I don’t get why our fans want us to sell our best player. We are rich enough to keep him, offer a ridiculously improved contract & invest in the squad at the same time.

First - we don't have a better defense yet. We have not upgraded yet, and we don't know how any new players will adapt to a new league, nor do we know how Ange will adapt to the defensive requirements of the PL.

Second - We are transitioning to a new style of football - traditionally, that takes time for any team to adopt to a new style/philosophy. A slow start would not be shocking.

Third - we are easily behind City, Liverpool, and Arsenal right now. Maybe if things fall right we are on a similar level to United, Newcastle, and Chelsea - but we would have no margin for error. We need top-5, which means we need to be better than 2 of those teams. Are you willing to bet £80M that we will finish ahead of two of those teams this season - with a new manager?

Fourth - we are not rich enough to piss away £80M. The only teams that can do that have owners that don't care about money. We are not one of those teams.

Most of this reads like reasons that we need to keep Kane rather than spend any incoming on a couple of players that would need to also adapt, as opposed to just keeping the best forward in the entire league?

Frankly, I don't care if Bayern offer 150m for Kane, I still want to keep him. Because 1) He's not replaceable. 2) I'm a supporter, not the club's accountant, so I care about how well the team plays, not how our balance sheet might look if he leaves on a free next year. 3) If we need money so badly, we can sell a golf course or a hotel or some of the other non-football shit the club owns. 4) I don't trust the imbecile in charge to reinvest it properly, anyway. 5) He's one of our own, he's our captain this year, and there's always a chance we might get to see him lift a trophy.

We have to replace Kane this year or next. (I think we have already done it with Richarlison and Maddison).

We are transitioning to an entirely new style and philosophy the season. We would be better served long-term in getting the new project off the ground with players who will be here long-term. Keep in mind, we probably have to replace Son as early as next summer also.

If you take emotion out of it - as any good chairman should - then, selling Kane this summer, and moving forward makes a lot more sense than keeping Kane for a year, then losing all of his value, and telling the. manager he has to rebuild the team again without the star striker, and without the funds that he could have had this season.
