This was in an Athletic article by Jack Pitt-Brooke (and he's repeated that claim in at least one other article recently). I found it surprising he would say that as I always thought it was fairly clearly understood that Parataci wanted Conte; I seem to remember Alisdair Gold saying Conte was Parataci's choice. It's possible it was a guess that Conte was Paratici's choice since they worked together previously, but, it's a bit of a case of whose reporting do you trust more. Here's the paragraph where it's discussed and a link to the article (subscription required):
"Even if Paratici does ride out the storm, it does not mean he has control over the biggest decisions. Paratici had little say in Tottenham recruiting Conte, even though they worked together at Juventus. That deal was driven by Levy. Paratici found out late in the process, on the night after Spurs lost 3-0 to Manchester United. And if Levy did not mind seizing control of the wheel to appoint Conte, why would he worry about doing the same again this summer?"
Who will be Spurs' manager next season? Conte, Pochettino, Tuchel?
Spurs seem to have just months left of Antonio Conte. Succession planning needs to be well underwaytheathletic.com
I understand because of Nuno debacle, but Levy getting involved and undermining Paratici...
Levy is the issue
