This was in an Athletic article by Jack Pitt-Brooke (and he's repeated that claim in at least one other article recently). I found it surprising he would say that as I always thought it was fairly clearly understood that Parataci wanted Conte; I seem to remember Alisdair Gold saying Conte was Parataci's choice. It's possible it was a guess that Conte was Paratici's choice since they worked together previously, but, it's a bit of a case of whose reporting do you trust more. Here's the paragraph where it's discussed and a link to the article (subscription required):

"Even if Paratici does ride out the storm, it does not mean he has control over the biggest decisions. Paratici had little say in Tottenham recruiting Conte, even though they worked together at Juventus. That deal was driven by Levy. Paratici found out late in the process, on the night after Spurs lost 3-0 to Manchester United. And if Levy did not mind seizing control of the wheel to appoint Conte, why would he worry about doing the same again this summer?"

I understand because of Nuno debacle, but Levy getting involved and undermining Paratici...

Levy is the issue

I saw that quoted on twitter and I must say its very surprising. I just assume it was down to Paratici that we managed to get him. The fact it was Levy is concerning as it completely undermined Paratici's appointment.

I can't see the paratici thread but has he done a bad job? Normally all our DoF get stick until after they leave with the exception of Frank

Signings:
Gollini - Did a job and covered - Good
Romero - Great signing- good
Gill - Jurys out but looks to have a future as a good footballer - TBD
Sarr - See Gill, looks good tho - TBD
Royal - Poor signing but he may turn it around and be good now - Bad/TBD
Kulusevski - Bad form aside, a good signing - Good
Bentacur - Good signing despite injuries - Good
Longlet - Neither good or bad but didn't cost much - ?
Perisic - See above - ?
Spance - See Gill - TBD
Forster - Done well, all things considering - Good
Bissouma - I personally think he is a good signing but he hasn't shown it - TBD
Spence - See Gill - TBD
Richarlison - He has done well imo despite the poor stats - TBD
Udogie - Looks a good signing - TBD/Good
Danjuma - Bad, since manager is playing him - Bad
Porro - Looks good - TBD

I would consider his performance to be actually decent, it hasn't be a disaster. The bad signings have been the free/loan signings, so its hard to say they were bad

The only one I consider bad is Royal/Spence/Porro. All of a sudden we now have to keep one out of the club whilst we develop them

Sarr - Looks good
Royal - Poor
Kulu - Good
Bentacur - Good
Lenglet - Poor
Perisic - Poor
Spence - Too early

When you consider that most fans think we haven't backed the manager with signings and you see that there have been 16 in the last couple of seasons it makes you wonder why we haven't done a lot better. Is it Levy's fault, he's spent the money on 16 players? Is it Paratici 's fault he picked the players? Or is it Conte's if he helped choose them? Probably all three contributed. Personally I don't think we bought the right players in the positions that were needed at the time. Probably out of the lot Bentacur stands out as the best buy and Kulusevski has had his moments some will include Romero although for me I have doubts. If two years ago we had bought 3 top quality defenders and an attacking creative MF we wouldn't have needed the rest providing we had a manager who knew how to use them.

Agree on Gollini, but how do you have Royal and Richarlison as poor and Bissouma as "will be good"? Both have contributed more than Bissouma.

He was bad in a few of his games but he was free and Lloris didn't get injured and was worth the punt so Good/Neither really

The players you say are poor signings like
Royal - played out of position and now looks good - 24
Gill - not played - 22
Richarlison - He did well before the WC and probably the reason we got to the knock outs

TBF Gollini was free and didn't hurt the club imo

There would have been a loan fee and there were games where he was piss poor. Perisic was free and I would say he was a poor signing (overall with hindsight) too. Danjuma you have as poor, yet he has been alright in the limited mins he has..

That was the other guy not me, I said he hasn't played

Also Perisic before World Cup had a good return on assists, so whilst second half he has been horrendous, first half wasn't great

It was you, but technically you said "bad" not "poor" as I had quoted but same thing.

Perisic has put in some quality set pieces but overall game has always been poor for us, though has gotten even worse since the WC. I would still say a bad signing.

Within the context of Paratici thinking Gollini would be good enough to succeed Lloris, as that is what he was signed to do, you have to say it was an awful signing.

Worth a punt? No player is worth a punt!

FFS the bad news just keeps on coming. This just adds to the uncertainty surrounding this mess of a club.

This seemed to go under the radar last night, but Paul O Keefe suggesting Paratici will get the boot over this case and he’s being cut out of the manager search.

Read a bit opinion at times, but he seems definitive he’s gone.

Yep but do they have to wait to see the outcome of the hearing first or can they get rid of him now without some kind of unfair dismissal charge
