Don't want to be that guy, (I know, I do really), but three very Kane-eqsue finishes there.

So so happy for Dane. He needed this. He’s a proper talent and hopefully this leads to him getting his confidence back ahead of massive season for him next year.

Never heard of this kind of loan before

Some of my sons friends are doing work experience ‘loans’… these are typically the kids that aren’t being offered but there is thing in scholars were they can do ‘work experience’ as a trial, few have been at Brentford from my lad ten doing so.

I’m not saying this is the case for this keeper, but it’s typically hard for. First year scholar keeper to get many minutes and minutes are important, either way great experience

There was a good update from John @Lilywhite Rose on our younger players on the LWOS podcast and he gives a guide on our goalkeepers on loan and what they hope to achieve out of the loan. As always a really interesting update.

Agree with the above, he did mention something which I have believed for a few years now. Players who get into the England under 15 and 16 tend to stay in the squad for season after season . Not many new names get in. No doubt they are trying to foster team spirit etc but if you are good at 16 doesn’t mean you are still good at 19. I know plenty of names from youth squads but had hardly heard of Kobbie Mainoo . Where’s he come from. Youth squads a thing of the past as he possibly lines up tonight for England v Brazil.
John mentioned Tyrese Hall who has only just got in the under 19s.

Possibly wrong thread.

Seeing Malachi Fagan-Walcott playing with Dunfermline Athletic this afternoon at my regular haunt in Greenock. Playing LCB.

Nya Kirby has been relegated to the Conference South with Oxford City.
A great hope when in the academy , on England Youth programme too, and then went nowhere really after believing grass would be greener.

Another harsh lesson for academy boys to learn - there are so many like this who we believe will make first team but just disappear

I think for Kirby it was more about the fact the Chelski had tapped him up and offered him and his family an absolute ton of cash. When we explained to Chelski that we were going to report them they dropped their interest in Kirby sharpish. He wasn't leaving us for Chelski for better training and definitely wasn't leaving us for a better path to first team football. It was money. After turning down a scholarship with us he couldn't stay here and had an unsuccessful trial at the Gooners. Kirby dropping to Palace was a real drop in standard for him because Palace are a level 2 academy.

Palace are a cat 1 academy and are pretty good too...

Tough one for this kid, probably had parwnts who believed his hype and didnt really know football that well, hopefully going down some levels will help him progress

It's not an easy choice when the money and contracts are out in front of you I think most people would argue that is the safer route than staying at spurs and potentially getting released in the future anyway.

What surprised me about the kirby situation is that he's continued to drop down and down

Yeah ita tough thing to decide, we took the sensible route of most lijely pathway to first team professional football as early as possible, so whilat prem clubs have contracts waiting for him, i think an opportunity in league 1 for a young keeper could be the route to take.

That being said (and could be simikiar to this lads situation), he just may have reached his potential and there is no more
