I've maintained that many sides above us owe their league position at least in part to the fixture list. Have a look at the remaining home & Top Four fixtures below:

Spurs ManU (h), Chelsea (h), Liverpool (h) 8 home matches left
Everton Liverpool (a), Chelsea (h), Arsenal (a) 8
Newcastle ManU (h), Liverpool (a), Chelsea (h) 7
Villa Arsenal (a), ManU (a) 6
Liverpool Chelsea (a), ManU (a), Arsenal (a) 8
Man C Arsenal (h), ManU (a), Chelsea (h), Liverpool (a) 7
Blackburn Arsenal (a), Liverpool (a), ManU (h) 7
Portsmouth ManU (a), Chelsea (h) 8
West Ham Liverpool (h), Liverpool (a), Chelsea (h), ManU (a) 8

The only one I would exchange for is Portsmouth. Now we're 13 or so points behind the majority of teams fighting for Europe but i think we can pull that back if we take four or more points from the three Top 4 games which is well within our grasp. I look at those teams and I can see Citeh, Portsmouth and Blackburn fall away dramatically, Newcastle utterly imploding and West Ham start to struggle in the tougher fixtures. Seventh place is still a very plausible target. How many points will we take from the Top 4 games?

Everton a - D
Man U h - W I think we're due!
Derby a - W
Chelsea h - D
B'ham a - D
W'Ham h - W
Man C a - L
Ports h - W
Newcastle h - W
Blackburn a - L
Middle h - W
Wigan a - D
Bolton h - W
Reading a - L
Liverpool h - W

A total of 55. Last year we'd have finished 8 if we finish 8 this year that would be a hell of an achievement considering our start to the year, I don;t think it's impossible to get 7th, just very difficult

As much as I admire your optimism...we are only going to lose anohter three games all season? Cant see it...we have to win a cup..we will finish around 10th in the league

We've got some confidence going now, poyets giving it away that he is seeing some big improvements. Plus a cpl of new defenders and we're in for a good run in!

I think although its Spurs and we will inevitably be dissapointed, we should expect to beat most of these teams, its the easiest run in ive seen ever.

I have to agree with you here. We are not consistent enough that we can go the remainder of the season losing only three times.

I personally have written off this season. Our only hope of getting into Europe is through one of the cups, which is almost as difficult in my opinion.

That's 35 more points and 6th place finish. Am I too optimistic? I think it's feasible though. We did more or less the same last season, so why not this with even more quality players and a great coach.

Good to see one of your posts, leffe. Long time no see.

Our biggest chance of Europe this season is next month against Chelsea; it'll be bloody tough in the League and we'll hopefully have the distraction of European football too. That's a lot of games.

The points totals being bandied about are much more optimistic than I'd ever give Spurs fans credit for. I think we'll do well to get 50 this year. Will be ecstatic once we're in the 40s.

I think I put it down to post-5-1 syndrome, all the optimism that is. It's good to see, just don't get your hopes up too much. It's a long slog.

We need to win 11 of our last 15 games to equal our points tally of last season

I said before the Gooners game that the next two fixtures were hugely important. We made the first step and did it in style by thrashing Arsenal but undid our own hard work at OT, which is par for the course with us.
But I think the way we played against United and getting the chance to play them so soon will work in our favour and I reckon we'll get something from Saturday's game. The Chelsea fixture is always a weird one, but you never know what we'll get and I think we'll beat Liverpool on the last day. At the moment we have to concentrate on bridging the gap between us and West Ham - if we can get past them in the league then anything is possible!!
My money, though, is Europe via the Carling Cup.

Liverpool are shit. Chelsea, we've broken the hoodoo so I can see us taking the full 3, as no matter what is happening, they just aren't that good. And they have a shit manager.

But I think the big one will be United at home. I believe this will be the second most important game for Ramos for the remainder of the year (unless we were to get to the final of the UEFA Cup) as we have a long tradition of losing to them at home. Beating them would energize the team and build on the confidence of the Arsenal victory and as such could guarantee him a long run of form and would help come the 24th.

By the way I can't see anyway we lost to Everton tonight. They have nothing upfront and will be missing Cahill. Grit and determination will not beat our lung power and class up front.

And hopefully the stupidity that cost us at the Lane has been eliminated. Our fight-back started here last season.

Can Juande equal or better last season's outstanding run-in? I see no reason why not.

Sorry to bring this up again folks, but it looks like I've got it all nailed so far.
