Yeah he's ace. If you had to pick the key reason for an improvement in the side, he's probably it.

Grit, game intelligence, leadership and no little skill/technique - he's great and he's coming up to his prime. £15m is crazy cheap

Was watching him closely yesterday, his reading of the game is very good, get's himself into some good positions to intercept the ball.

Reminds me of Carrick especially in his latter years, just a quality DMF where he knows where he needs to be to retrieve the ball.

Definitely see why Guardiola made Busquets camparisons when they were at Bayern together. Like Busquets, Hojbjerg isn't blessed with pace but he makes us for it with intellegent positioning and the ability to play quick, one or two touch, accurate passes to feet.

He doesn't play as well in a double pivot but when he's the deepest lying midfielder he really dominates the centre of the pitch and allows the full backs to push high and wide.

Apparently he was being nicknamed "Zidane" in the changing room at half time after those pirouettes. Bale even patted him on the head.

I put the clip of those pirouettes in the match thread last night.
.
My favourite memory of him last night though was standing over one of their players lying on the ground who had just put in a filthy tackle and he was daring him to stand up.

Love this guy, such a solid player, great positional play, reading of the game, tackling, can pass quite well as well and most importantly he's a leader.

When Højbjerg is the deepest CM his positioning is very good. He also knows when to pressure the ball with urgency and when to hold position. Winks should learn a lot from watching his positioning as he (Winks) tends to have a bad starting position on the wrong side and then over compensates in a recovery action often conceding a needless foul.

Also, I think Mourinho said he is a captain without the armband which sums him up nicely. A real shame we will not get to see any behind the scenes dressing room moments this season as I bet he is incredibly vocal in there.

With the ref warning him off. That was great to watch

Who was it that was insisting when we signed Højbjerg that he wasn’t a defensive midfielder because he couldn’t play deep?

I underestimated his passing and a better player than I thought.

What I would say is playing consecutive games really helps a players form.

I peruse another board and the feeling was on there that because a few Stains fans had said "not that" etc etc he was going to be a bad signing.
He is a funny (odd) guy I watched a bit of his later time at Stains and he is not Keane nasty but def. not one for "chin up boys 3-3 is not that bad"
or finger flicking with Ali (Son is excused obvs.)
The bit of teak missing in m/f since Dembele left.

Reminds me of Graham Roberts and not because of the bloodied face pics that circulated on twitter..

If there was fans in, can you imagine the whole ground shouting 'STREAM HOJBY'

Honestly, he came from completely off my radar to become one of my favorite players on the club. Tough as nails, imposes his will, plays with a deceptive amount of technique and just doesn't take guff off of anyone.

We needed a presence like him.

I mean, I bought a Bale jersey soon after we signed him and I'm contemplating going back and getting a Hojbjerg to go with it. LOVE this guy.

We seem to have been desperately unfortunate with CDM's in the last 10 years or so. I would love nothing more than for him to reach his peak over the next couple of seasons and then maintain it for a good 5-7 years. We need someone like him bossing midfields if we're going to stand any chance of being successful under Mou.
