Don't waste a red card on him.. Make sure you take out a player that is important for them... Watkins / Bailey.. 😂

Best not to get one, just beat them and get a win...

I’ve got a better idea… maybe cash could run into Martinez causing them to both get carried off injured and score an own goal too :)

Same midfield as against Palace for me. Need to get them finding a rhythm together. People want to see form returning for those players but want them out of the side if they don’t do anything spectacular inside 45 minutes.

Bentancur has been out nearly a year, its going to take some time for him to get back to where he was.

This is a massive game, go back to the three who started the season so well.

I see that, but Sarr, Bisoumma and Maddison have been in and out as well. Personally I still trust Bentancur more on the ball in a difficult away game over Sarr in tight areas against a physical midfield I can see his touch, ball security and passing getting put under scrutiny in those areas. Think he’d be better coming on if the game gets stretched later on.

This is sexy. But I would understand Ange being hesitant to start with this midfield against Villa. Deki is going to need to be very disciplined against McGinn, Luiz, etc. in midfield. Thus said, I feel better about it with Royal covering in behind rather than Porro.

I think Johnson - Son - Werner up front and dropping Kulu for Sarr is how I would start (if Sarr is fully fit). Kulu and [Richy?] off the bench will be a handful too.

Bissouma

Sarr - Maddison

Johnson - Son - Werner
Yeah this is perfect. Villa play a high line and the movement of those 3 in behind could be devastating

The amount of reasons that are trying to be justified having Deki start(every time) is highly concerning. Some make him unstoppable, as poor as he has been.

I would split the difference - keep Kulusevski in - as a CM - and play Johnson at RW.

But, I can understand the logic of keeping Johnson as a sub, and maximizing his pace against tired leg.

I wouldn't be against that, but I'm probably still a little wary of having two attacking midfielders making up that midfield 3, especially when having players such as Bentancur and Sarr sidelined as a result. I really like how it's something we can switch to midway through a game though.

It's nice to actually feel content/happy with a few different selections to be honest. Like I'd rather see Sarr start with Bissouma, but wouldn't be disappointed if it was Bentancur. And the same with whether it's Kulusevski or Johnson starting. Normally it's just been a really obvious strongest 11. I mean, that may be down to some not performing greatly as well admittedly, but I still think the level has increased to where there are a few reasonable different options for different positions.

I agree with everything above. Think Sarr's athleticism and ability to cover a lot of ground very quickly will be important in this type of game. There'll be lots of end-to-end, counter-attacking transition stuff the way both teams play.

Hugely underrating what Kulusevski brings to our team here, his ball carrying and work rate is amongst the best in the league.
His ball retention too.
Also feel Johnson is much better from the bench against tired legs.

I think having Johnson coming off the bench is better for his development and confidence right now. He’s done well as an impact sub. I know Kulusevski hasn’t been at his best but his work rate is needed for this one.

As long as Sarr is fit I think he starts every match for me. He just has “it”

Agreed. As much as I love him, he's struggling with an end product at the moment. Start him on the bench, a rest/change of view sometimes gives the kick required.
