I think you should watch it back and look at the other players reactions rather than the tackle itself.

Why? Surely the tackle is the most important thing here. Players regularly try and influence the referee so I don't put as much stock in that.

It is more from the side than from behind and he doesn't really leave his feet much. It wasn't a great tackle and got a deserved yellow but if a spurs player had been sent off for that, most people on here would be going mental.
Look at the foul and how far he is from the ball, it was blatantly intentional. You must be on the wind up.

That's just the nature of looking out for your own though. If one of our players went in high on the leg from behind on a player back from ACL I would be critical. But then you just continue to support your player after. It doesn't stop from hating opponents who do it to one of our players though. The issue is they can afford to just carry on because it's not their player who was impacted by it.

For me, this is the problem with fans today. Based on a few of the comments on here, you would have thought he stabbed Bentancur.

I actually agree and said it at the time... It's a bad tackle, but a yellow at most. The outcome has made it much worse in our eyes. Rather like's Son's tackle which resulted in a broken leg, it was only given as a red because of the outcome, but I think we can all agree it should have been a yellow (and I may be misremembering, but was it downgraded to a yellow afterwards?).

I don't like Cash. He likes to deliberately put his mark on players, however, that particular tackle was, in my opinion, a caution only. A sending off would have been harsh.

People are judging it more harshly because of the context. The tackle was a clear yellow but no more.
Stepping outside footie into the law.

If a driver on the motorway falls asleep drifts off the road and prangs into a tree...he'll get a nasty fine/points. BUT If his van falls off the road onto railway trax and causes a fatal train smash...he gets prison (real example btw) When you fall asleep at the wheel you are a real danger .You decide to make a fierce late lunge on a player's leg that's a real danger . In law tho, consequences matter.

Yes I know football is different, but I'm trying to explain the outrage here. Add to this that it was a Bentancur masterclass that day just back from 10 months out, we'd had numerous chance's, tore Villa to bits. They had to stop him...Cash the man to do it.

This wasn't any attempt at the ball. It was made with the ice-cold intent of a mafia hit and was very successful in putting our Villa-tormentor out of the match. They won. Very pleasing I'm sure. Bents raged at Cash as he sat injured on the field.

It's weakened us as a Villa competitor to this day where Bents was again out of footie a while and is still not back formwise.

Finally, same player, same team, 'tackled' Doherty while he was on the touchline a coupla seasons back. Took him out with many months to recover. Putting Spurs players out of the game for long spells seems his forte.

True, its the context as well, but what a context . Should we expect a key Spurs player to be targetted on Monday if we start to do well ?

It was bad because he went for the player and not the ball. Even without the fact it took Bentancur off the pitch I think we'd be judging Cash harshly.

When a player misses/goes over the ball you know its dangerous but accidental. What Cash did was dangerous and deliberate and that is what riles people up. It was one of those old school moves to nobble the best player on the pitch.

Cash also has previous with us. Didn't he end Doherty's season with another dreadful tackle?

Is it me or do we not get/win many free kicks in dangerous central areas under Ange as I barely remember Maddison having a chance to take any free kicks for us in dangerous goalscoring positions at all, yes he was injured for a while but even then I don’t think Porro had that many.

Previously after Eriksen left, I swear Kane was hitting a free kick into the wall week in week out.

Anyway hopefully he bangs one in through Cash’s legs past Martinez tomorrow.

It was normally Kane who would win the freekicks as he was so good at holding the ball up that defenders struggled to get the ball and would end up going through him. But I also feel Maddison doesn't get enough freekicks for the number of times he's fouled.

Last three games, Madders has improved each time in time spent on the ball, first touch and weight of pass.

We need another few % improvement on his last match, and it could lead to him creating havoc again.

I hope he’s motm!

So you are telling me that not only do we not get penalties, we are not even getting freekicks in decent areas?
