It's so predictable that he has one bad game and this thread is full of people on his back. He didn't play well but the guy has basically kept the season alive while Son was away.

You don't see this level of criticism for someone like Kulu, I cannot remember the last good game he had.
They've been waiting a while to come back out the shadows.

No he didn't play well. But who did yesterday? He certainly put in a shift and was one of the few who pressed wolves consistently. Bigger issues in the team than Richarlison imo and thought we looked worse when he went off.

I like Richarlison but questions over whether he’s the right player to lead the line for us remain.

He’s best in the centre but is this stopping Son from playing his strongest position?

To get to the top we need our front 3 to be a deadly combination. I’m really hoping we bring in someone like Neto in the summer.

Maybe Neto, Son and Richarlison could be a great combo.

I take it you haven't been in his thread. There's tons of it.

the thread hasn't been posted in since Tuesday and he despite scoring he dropped a stinker yesterday and he hasn't played well for months. Richarlison has kept us in the top four convo, think he deserves a little slack

I can't blame Richy for yesterday's game as we were so devoid of creativity and chances that all of our attackers looked flat. Give any striker no service and he won't score.

Our problem yesterday was the lack of creating chances. Richy and Sonny is more than enough with Veliz too for up front.

Everyone's said it plenty by now, we need wingers who can actually dribble and manipulate a ball and take players on more than anything. Take the attention away from our strikers and midfielders that way, to allow them freedom to score.

Richy is fine.

What are the excuses for his appalling ball control and passing ?

Richy wasn't brilliant by all accounts yesterday but he has absolutely surpassed my expectations already this season. I really like the player at Watford and Everton but i thought the version we had signed was a busted flush. Good season so far and if he continues for the run in like he has in the last 12 or so weeks it will be a very good one for him.

I agree but Deki has been getting pelters for months even after being one of our better players for periods this season

What annoys me is we don't get crosses into him. Yesterday when Wolves got bodies back we still tried to play through them. There were chances out wide to whip a cross in and Richarlison is strong on the air. It's like we criticise him for not being technical enough for this push and run football yet his style is ideal for games like that one. I see people talk about no plan b but we do have this plan b type of player up top. Do we want a plan b or do we criticise Richarlison for not playing plan a well enough?

So weird he scored 2 against Everton and was in good form then all of a sudden looks short on confidence again

He’s best when he’s instinctive like against Everton… little time to think, strike/head the ball pretty much instantaneously. His best goals have come from doing this.

Whereas when he has time to think he more often than not makes a complete hash of it. Especially in 1 on 1s or running through at goal and having to strike the ball across the keeper… it’s like he’s got cones for feet.

His wider game - holding the ball up, laying it off, changing direction and having to think how and when to offload it… he’s miles off the required standard when it comes to this side of his game.

I agree we should play to his strengths and put in more crosses but the major issue with doing this is that Richarlison is our ‘only’ player who is decent in the air. Factor in the centre backs and other players defending the opposition box and you’re trying to find a needle in a haystack. We also lack crossing quality (no one is in the league of Perisic pre his injury/departure). Porro is decent but our wide players are pretty poor at crossing. Kulusevski has the ability to wip the ball in but for some reasons he’s been miles off it this season.

He was really poor but he also wasn’t helped by the lack of quality out wide and poor performances from the likes of Maddison.

Overall if you really look at it though we need to improve the technical level of our attackers. Richy, Son, Johnson, Werner, it’s just a pool of players who are way too limited in possession and technically. We can probably get away with 1-2 of them in the squad but not 3-4. The fact is we struggle to have the ball stick in attack and they struggle to play sharp passing combos because of this lack of technical ability.

Top teams don’t have that many players who are so limited technically and in possession.

Haaland and Kane were worse in their last matches, strikers have games like that. His passing can definitely be disappointing and that will never change.

Much prefer Son in the middle, he has pace, dribbling ability, long range shooting and is clinical. The only advantage Richy has is heading ability. Take nothing away from how good he was when Son was away.

Hes part of the build up play himself though, and most moves break down at his feet.

He’s a good striker of the ball when he doesn’t have time to think, also decent against teams not playing a low block. Cant be the main guy though, Sonny needs to be our ST when we play teams like Wolves.

Build up play was no better for 20+ minutes without Richy, he was taken off after 71 minutes so he was not the only problem yesterday
