Just watching MOTD. I know there is contact on the back of Welbecks boot but I just feel they want to give penalties for every touch.

On a more positive note, lovely ball from. Deki to release Sarr, Richarlison ready for a tap in if Dunk didn't get in the way

That was stodgy and somewhat lucky in the end. It's always a concern when we play such slow, walking football throughout the first half. THat urgency to put the opponent's goal in jeopardy was completely absent. Guys were standing still receiving the ball. Romero was walking with it. It's not in the game plan and I don't know why we do it so often. Brighton's one-touch pass and move in the first half was a stark contrast. They had much less of the ball, but from that early Welbeck shot, they had some sharpness about them that we were just watching. Their press seemed much more tactically coherent and effective than ours (why constantly press the keeper??).

When we up the tempo, we're much better. At some point, you have to swing the ball into the danger area or behind a full back because you're not going to walk it in.

I love that we're scoring that type of Johnson goal more often and it shows the value of pace late in the game. It was a great 3 points to pick up. We need better form if we're going to stick near the top two for a few weeks longer.

Think he would’ve been offside

It's really weird that the line about why De Zerbi wasn't there today was that he was recovering from dental surgery. They just said it again on MotD. He wasn't there because he was suspended, which we knew was the case as soon as he got booked in their previous game.
OK I'll bite. He was banned from the touchline but he was still allowed to be in the ground mate! You know the drill. He wasn't there because of the dental surgery. That is the tooth, yet you are saying the molar opposite.

Was at the game but just seen the highlights. Didn’t appreciate just how good the move was for Johnson’s goal. Definitely one of our goals of the season. Personally prefer a flowing team move over a screamer.

Did you see when the Brighton coaches lost their blue-tooth connection to De Zerbi? It was so filling to see!

I do hope we can play a game where we control it and win well. Seems every game is tense and close.

It was really great to have all our players back but we looked like a team that hadn't played together for while and we played like it.

No doubt we will gel in time.

Best game Werner has played for us, he'll get better and hopefully we give him more opportunities as we tend to ignore him when he has opportunities atm.

Was the consensus on here really that different? We were poor. I thought far poorer than the other home games this season where we lost.

Don't get me wrong, I was definitely na-na-na-naing after the final whistle but we didn't play well at all.
Watching on TV.

I felt first 30 were poor. Some spells even worse.

Last 15 we looked better.

Second half. Better, but not brilliant, first 10. Good 10 around the goal.

Poor 15 or so.

Last 10 quite stable.

I do think we need a few weeks with the players do stay fit and get back to their flow.

But those were the subs everyone was crying out for at HT.
Not everyone.
I would have left it as it was for another few minutes at least and even then, would've only changed Bentancur for Bissouma (I didn't think Bents was having a good game).
Personally, I thought Werner was doing well and Kulusevski had grown into the game and become one of our better players.

It felt to me like weird subs and almost changing for the sake of it. I know Johnson got the winner and I understand Son coming on but I think Deki was playing the best we've seen for a while.
All three at once was a bit odd for me.

I thought the subs were weird, too…

but you have to admit, PEH really helped.

I was too busy wondering why he'd decided to go with a middle parting to pay any attention to how he played! 😂

To be honest, my stream died for a chunk of the game towards the end, probably from the 80th minute until the 90th.
Came back for the winner though and without the foreign commentary, which was nice.

Was weird watching the winning goal in silence with my lad and it took us a second before we were leaping around like loons.

There was a shot from the right side of the area that went just past the post but it may have been offside (?).
Pretty sure that was the mitoma cut back to fati. Think that was their only good chance other than the long range shots from mitoma and welbeck and obviously the pen in the first half. Oh and buonanotte had one blocked from vdv in 2nd half
