Found this interesting in the sensible transfers video from the Athletic. Snapshot of Nusa’s stats compared to wingers/attacking mids in the big 5 European Leagues, CL and Europa League. Very impressive how he compares.
It wasn't a bad video, but they pretty much just talked about all the players we are already linked to. I guess that's good as it means we are sensible.

I'm pretty sure they're selling almiron for ffp reasons and likely have to sell more. Its not a case of spending all the money on a prospect. Doubt they afford to replace him at all
What if they sell him for 100m? After all they are owned by the same country....

Can't see how this makes any sense.

Why sell a prem proven winger to sign a younger, unproven winger?

Surely Newcastle are begrudgingly looking at selling Almiron (and Trippier) to balance the books a bit, not to go out and splash it immediately.

If Newcastle sold Almiron for £30m then bought a replacement, also for £30m, it would likely show as a ~£25m net positive for their PSR calculation.

The purchase would be amortised over the length if the contract (say 6 yrs), so would be £5m per year, whereas Almiron's sale would be (almost) pure profit on the books, as he signed 5 years ago so his cost has probably already been fully accounted for in previous years.

This reads like Sports Peto has been briefed by Club Brugge to leak names of any team that might be big spenders, without considering whether the state-funded club actually have room to spend the kind of money Club Brugge want

yup. 'considering' lol.

what next, 'deliberating', 'pondering', 'contemplating'?. complete bs imo.

I get worrying about Bayern hijacking us with Dragusin but Newcastle? Nah. Lad wants to come here, if he wanted money then he'd have joined Chelsea.

There is a sense in Newcastle going for him if they sell Almiron. Newcastle are short on bodies and if they sell a main player they will likely need to replace him. Almiron was signed in 2019 for 20/21m depending on which report you believe.
Here's the geeky bit.
His book value is very low (max I would say is 5m) so if they sell him for 25m they will get a PSR profit of 20m. Now say they buy a player for 25m like Nusa to replace Almiron and give him a 5 year deal this will only take off 5m from their PSR profit from Almiron so they still have a minimum profit of 15m so there is an ability for them to sign a replacement and it not affect their PSR profit by too much.

yeah but isn't the whole thing that nusa will go back for the rest of the year? If Newcastle sell, wouldn't they meed a direct replacement now?

And if you are going to leak something at least make it sound credible...any decent player with a choice would not go to Newcastle at the moment

If they think they can still get a European spot (which seems do-able for them), then yes - you would think their priority would be bringing in reinforcements for now rather than prospects for the future.

Dunno, have a hard time believing if Nusa and his family like Spurs and Ange that he’d elect to go to Newcastle and what feels like the inevitability of a new manager sooner rather than later.

If we’re being honest, Newcastle don’t have the pull to overtake us (yeah) in any transfer tug of war. We have a manager who plays young players regularly, we have a shortage of *real* quality up front, and we’re also far more established. I’d be more worried if a club like Dortmund came calling.
