Tempted to see him start with Bentancur against Chelsea in midfield. When they've been on the pitch together, look to be on the same wave length and thought dovetailed quite well. I remember that first half hour against Villa at home and there were lots of neat touches and they both kept the...

Physically looks off it and everything looks a struggle. Earlier in the season was popping up everywhere, able to get himself out of tight situations with quick nimble feet but at the moment everything looks a second or two slower and being read by the opposition.

    Player Watch: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg

Agree. Still think Ange is finding out a lot about these players. Keeper and defence aside, think there's still question marks in a number of other positions. If you asked him to name his strongest side not sure he'd be able to with any degree of confidence. Even if he was able to, still can't...

Player Watch Player Watch: Ben Davies

Never been his biggest fan but todays game probably not the one to have too much of a go at him. Problem is not being in Europe and out the cups so early, our squad/players hardly get any minutes under there belt. Davies struggles against quick, tricky players at the best of times, having to...

Must admit, do have some concerns over him in defensive set piece situations. He has the height but quite willowy in build and don't get the impression he has the 'fuck off, this ball is mine' attitude and prepared to go through everyone and everything in his way to make it his. Really eases...

    Manager Watch: Ange Postecoglou

Think he needed to be a bit more diplomatic and could have answered the question better. Something along the lines of 'always disappointing to concede from two pieces and we'll have a look back and see where we can improve' would probably have sufficed if he didn't want to full out acknowledge...

Richy has his flaws but one thing is does do is occupy defenders. Son with his back to goal is a day on the beach for the likes of Saliba and Gabriel

Just can't get over how bad we look defensively. The set pieces.....it's as though the coaching staff have a complete blind spot for it and think nothing is wrong. Always worrying when it's the same thing happening over and over again. Right now, getting a corner against us is nearly as good as...

....and another goal conceded from a set piece. We are a complete mess from set pieces.....seems to be no organisation at all.

Davies, even more so when lacking game time, is a car crash up against Saka. Once he was left isolated, knew there was only going to be one result. We are just too vulnerable defensively and undermines anything we try and do further up the pitch. Arsenal haven't even got out of 3rd gear.

This was my worry before the game. Likes of Hojbjerg and Davies being thrown into a big game without too much game time, especially Davies. One of the issues with not being in Europe and going out the cups early means fringe players can't be kept on their toes and then get thrown in 'cold'.

    Match Threads Newcastle vs Spurs

Dear oh dear. That really was bad and honestly lucky to get away with it 'just' being 4-0.. We are nowhere near as aggressive when it comes to putting pressure on the ball as we were in the first few months of the season and think this is a major problem in this system. It starts from the top...

We also haven't put enough pressure on the ball in midfield when out of possession. Get outworked there then we really are going to exposed badly.

Does feel as though if we have a couple of players who are not on there game in this system/style of play, we can be brutally exposed. Throw in errors and it can get very messy. Newcastle just look faster and stronger all over the pitch and think the disappointing thing for me is we seem to be...

So poor defensively. Not sure what is going on with VDV's slipping but sometimes feels like we take his one on one defending for granted and end up taking too many unnecessary risks further up the pitch and exposing him to often. We look so vulnerable as a defensive unit at the moment.
