Love that we finaly play the spurs way, very much to dare is to do. But i think we will ahve many games this season where we dominate an lose games to counter attacks. The free movement of the wingbacks asks so much of our centre backs and no matter how fast VDV is we will get countered on

VDV in for Davies is going to be totally transformational.

Lenglet is a lot better than Davies as a LCB, so I can see why we’re keeping him on ice in case we can’t get anyone better in as backup there.

Think he can get booted up at half-time?

This game is confirming to me that we need a livewire who can replace either Deki or Son.

Dont think Solomon alone is enough.

Possession is good. Aggressive press immediately after losing ball is good. This 442 settled defense/block is not good. Yeah quality cross and Davies isn’t good in the air, but when we’re forced into this settled defence, it’s way too passive. The Barca game will be a much better test of how that phase of the game has to improve for us, because they’ll be the ones with 60+% of the ball.

Positives - all the new signings playing well and definitely upgrades. Ange has a lovely loud bark that you can hear on the tv. Hojbjerg will be gone soon.

Downsides - Son/Kulu look as impotent as last season. Vicario is from the Hugo Lloris school of being

Lo Celso please.
Has Van der Ven brought his shinpads?
I think Son looks a bit lost out that wide. Maybe some technical tweaks with someone else moving out to allow Son to cut inside. May be risky for Udogie to do that but Ange will sort it.

It’s not clicking yet, but you can see the free flowing football we are trying. It will take time; but early signs are good.

Son hasn't really found the areas where he's effective. Think Deki's been better overall, but we know what Son can do and it might shift quickly.

Yes ok! You know what I meant!!
I do agree that Bissouma, Sarr and Maddison are the likely starting trio to start the season.

That trio offers the most comprehensive coverage - a 10, an 8 and a 6.

Lo Celso and Madders would leave us a little light in the transition phase - but would be a lot of fun to watch in the attacking third.

Half time thoughts:

Udogie will be fine. Just needs a better understanding with Son.
Emerson killed a lot of our attacking play. He has a place in the squad but I’d prefer Porro against teams like this.
We need to upgrade PEH.
Maddison will have a great season, fills the space we’ve badly missed since Eriksen.
Not convinced with Sarr as the other 8.
@Rob do you get the vibe Udogie will be our 1st choice left back now? Havent heard any noises recent about Reggie going anywhere.

Spence must surely be on the way out now? Either loan or perm.

Good, good, soon you’ll realize that Deki and Son both need to be upgraded full stop.
It’s a huge weakness. If we are selling Kane and buying attackers we have to buy at least one real winger who can plug right in. Can’t believe we aren’t all over Chiesa.

Would like to see Son shooting from range with players following in on any rebounds.

Kulu looks a bit lost but works hard and has the physicality to keep the ball.

Lots of possession, but not enough clear cut chances from all of that possession.

Yes, I know it's a work in progress and I'm happy to be patient but could see some of our more impatient fans getting restless.
