Romero not great in the air so would be good to get a dominant aerial player alongside him.

Well we all know it so its not really a concern to me. Ange knows it.

Van de Ven will help us be more agressive defensively and we still need one more but its not an issue we dont know much about.

It is a glaring issue which means it is easier to solve.

Just gotta get players in and keep working on it.
Its a journey, and we've just taken our first step.

I like the direction we are headed, but we aren't there yet.

Some positive stuff there. Lots of passing, nice movement and approach. Need to pull the trigger sometimes

But the defending…Davies can’t play at CB

Bring Bissouma, Solomon & Lo Celso on at HT to give them time with what looks like the preferred line up on Saturday. Hojbjerg, Sarr & Kulusevski off.
I'm expecting bissouma, Sarr and maddison to start next Saturday I think

Positives - all the new signings playing well and definitely upgrades. Ange has a lovely loud bark that you can hear on the tv. Hojbjerg will be gone soon.

Downsides - Son/Kulu look as impotent as last season. Vicario is from the Hugo Lloris school of being rooted to his line.

Lo Celso please.
Has Van der Ven brought his shinpads?

As we've all said and agreed, we need minimum 2 new 1st team CB's. VDV n.o1 in and then one more (Tapsoba or whoever) we cannot rely on Dier, Davies, Sanchez, Tanganga for a minute, they all have to go, only one who could possibly be ok as 4th choice could be Dier IMO but the other 3 absolutely no where near it.

In a perverse way, I’m glad that goal was scored and in the way it was scored. Was the perfect example of our problems and therefore helps Ange to see even better where the problems lie and who needs to up their game/get on their bike.

it’s also heartening that we have bench options who have the potential to improve this performance - Bissouma, Lo Celso, Perisic and Solomon. Plus Vdv to come in hopefully for next weekend.

Half time thoughts:

Udogie will be fine. Just needs a better understanding with Son.
Emerson killed a lot of our attacking play. He has a place in the squad but I’d prefer Porro against teams like this.
We need to upgrade PEH.
Maddison will have a great season, fills the space we’ve badly missed since Eriksen.
Not convinced with Sarr as the other 8.

That was a fun watch. We're already playing some lovely stuff and it's still really early days.

VDV in for Davies is going to be totally transformational.

Lenglet is a lot better than Davies as a LCB, so I can see why we’re keeping him on ice in case we can’t get anyone better in as backup there.

We look pretty good going forward, not convinced this front 3 is the right combo but they are all playing fairly well individually. Scary how easy we are to score against though. Conceded 5 from about 10 chances in pre season, dread to think what's going to happen against PL opposition!

I am sure Ange knows...

Its the people above him that need convincing!

It's so obvious what's needed for us to finally click 100%. These games under Ange have all been very enjoyable and I genuinely look forward to watching all our games again.

For the first time since 2019, I'm starting to believe again.
