I think most would like us to do that but Nagelsmann is very indemand and will rightly wait until summer to see what's on the table.

Remember just 10 days or so ago he had no idea he was getting fired so wouldn't have been thinking about anything other than Bayern.

If other teams than Chelsea are looking for a coach come summer we may find ourselves up shit creek.

We need a new coach by early June. We need to sort the squad out and we need a new DOF.

It's not a great idea to wait for one guys call when there is a good chance he'll reject us.

In the meantime Amorim, Gallardo, Slot or whoever may be contacted by other clubs to make a move.

Then it'll be 2021 all over again.

For once, I want the club to nail their first realistic target and then start to move all the parts in anticipation of their arrival.
It must be killing Paratici sitting at home. Imagine how much fun he could be having spinning plates right now.

I can see Leicester making a big play for Thomas Frank.

I'm still holding out hope for Naglesmann, he would smash it here.

You see, for me, recruitment is just one of the moving parts.

It’s the clubs vision which aligns with all departments which is the true sum of its parts.

No good having an unbelievable recruitment team if the players being signed don’t match the managers style of play. It really is a well oiled wheel at Brighton.

Take Spurs for example, Spence on the surface looked like an unbelievable signing and most of us were buzzing we’d got such a talent for a reasonable fee. Fast forward a season and due to our lack of forward planning, we’ve not got 3 RB/RWB costing a total of 90’m and it’s still no clearer who the long term starter will be.

Don’t even pick the Doherty to Athletico scab - how not to do business.
Yeah, looking increasingly likely that we're going to bring in a back 4 manager having just dropped 40+ million on our third specialist wing-back in a 6 month period.

So, after 18 months of struggling with sub-par wingbacks under Conte, we're probably going into next season with 3 really decent attacking wing-backs who are all questionable in a back 4.

All so typical and so very predictable. Never change, Spurs.

Lets have it straight here.

According to SC we need........

A modern manager who is young enthusiastic and yet also vastly experienced with all situations and leagues.

A front foot manager who plays exciting free flowing forward playing football, yet also someone who is defensively sound and tactically astute.

Someone who will work with whatever players he has and make them better, yet will keep Levy on his toes to bring in top quality players.

A manager who will make a team better than the sum of it's parts, but has the ability to manage the superstar players and agents.

Have I got that right?
Only one man ticks all those boxes...

Brenton Rodgers.

No. We ended up with Nuno because we didn't look at managers like Slot. We bounced around all the high profile names until we ran out, then went after Gattusso who the fans rejected, became a media laughing stock to the point where we just had to get someone in to shut everyone up and Mendes threw Nuno at us.

We are definitely looking at things differently this time around. Despite everyone throwing a different name into the hat we appear to have made an actual list that has been narrowed down, and we aren't just looking at who will create the biggest stir publicity wise.
We also were very very close to moving ahead with Fonseca (not high profile name) who would've fitted the bill in terms of style of play and coaching and developing players, it was only when Paratici came in that he canned that and pushed for Gattuso and we ended up with Nuno as nothing else left.

Good to hear we possibly have more of a plan this time but lets also hope we are decisive, hopefully with Paratici out the way that is one less voice for Levy to be swayed by as he actually had it more along the right lines with Fonseca previously and if Slot and other similar managers to that are now on our list then that is promising...

I mean Slot’s teams have had either the best or second best defensive record in the league in every season he’s managed but sure.
Quite often the best form of defence is attack, take the pressure off your defenders by keeping it up to be other end of the pitch, something we don’t often do these days

the first sentence from BEN on POCH sounds like itk..that theres been a change
they had ruled him out at start but think a small chance could be him

my guess would be

Slot
Potter now he has come into play
or small chance of Poch
I know it’s most likely opinion. But then possibility of Potter after the shambles at Chelsea genuinely gives a shiver down my spine.

Not because I think he’s a bad coach (I think the situation at Chelsea was doomed for a coach like him) but the thought the board watched this and thought “ooh a bargain”

Gallardo would have been the man for me. But looks like that noise has died out and JN probably West to Chelsea. Slot or Poch I guess, just hope it’s with a thought out plan instead of Nuno-esque easy appointment.

Well I like Potter because I can think back to before he took the Chelsea shilling. He had a very good team at Brighton, and with a proper striker (and we have at least two) his Chelsea team would have won more games for certain. He’s not Pep, but he is certainly worth considering for the shortlist along with Pochettino and Nagelsmann. I have no knowledge of Arne Slot at all so he’s not on my list.

I wouldn't write Potter off. The general consensus on Eddie Howe was 'fuck that' a while back, but he's doing a great job at Newcastle with some players we'd laugh at on here if they were linked.

Eddie Howe has always been a lively and energetic manager. Potter is a good tactician but a boring geezer - I don’t think he’s the right fit for this squad

I’m assuming that is because Ancelotti is staying at RM

While I still think Potter's a good manager, it would feel like such a downer to bring in yet another Chelsea-reject, who is fresh off failing at a big club and a bit of a charisma vacuum.

It’s never the same second time round.

Those things that wound you up previously, will still wind you up again, but you’ll have less patience second time around, as the novelty has worn thin/disappeared.

I tread on hallowed turf when commenting on Poch, because I know he did bring back that ‘feel good factor’ and we (the fans) did have a connection to him, which hasn’t materialised since

My biggest concern is “the harder you love, the harder it hurts” and that’s why so much revisionism is applied to Poch’s time in charge. Now isn’t the time to be looking back.

Eyes on the future and not “what could have been”. Only my two pence or course…

Eddie Howe has it seems improved himself with some time away. His Bournemouth, like Newcastle, out ran everyone but unlike his present club they conceded as many goals as they scored. Now he has turned a leaky defence into one of the tightest. As much as I have little time for Newcastle I am pleased that Howe is doing well
