2 points down on the same fixtures as last season. We were up at the start of the campaign.

Not many teams in recent years will take 6 points off City two seasons in a row, so whilst factual the comparison is a bit harsh. Newcastle, Villa and Woolwich at home, Leicester and Wolves away are where the dropped points hurt the most, because we would expect to take some points from those games.

He’s never going to get the financial backing he wants/needs, so we will be left watching turgid football and probably have lost Harry Kane too, so even less creative then now.

I think the Seffield Utd defeat and the abject failure to lay a glove on Milan in the space of a week have really hurt us all. The FA Cup especially as I think we could see a final on the horizon. Coupled with the turgid football, I understand why so many fans want Conte out, even though I would give him the time he is asking for.

I don't think the FA Cup defeat is all on him. Son, Richie and Moura should be good enough to score a goal against a lower league team (albeit they look like being Prem in a few months). And for those that say he should have started Kane and put the tie to bed, what that means is you acknowledge the squad is not good enough to beat a Championship side who had several regulars missing themselves. I think that says more about the depth / quality of our squad than it does our manager.

If you would - please indulge me for a moment, below is our 25 man prem squad, that contains 4 goalkeepers. Imagine none of them currently play for Tottenham but that they all become available in the summer, how many of them would you be urging Levy to sign -forget about transfer fees and wages and concentrate on who out of the 25 you would really want and be excited about us signing.

He hasn't asked for big financial backing, he asked for time and patience to lay the foundation and change the mentality at Tottenham. He even said that while spending big might improve your position (I think his actual word was 'propensity') it does not guarantee success (something I've been saying for years)

Is it? I'm not saying we don't deserve to be where we are now; the table doesn't lie. But Liverpool and Chelsea are having their worst seasons in several years. Aside from Liverpool, our main rivals for fourth are teams that finished 9th and 11th last season, or around twenty points behind us. If either of the latter two does happen to bridge the gap of points that separated us from them last season, that would be a 'miracle'.

Liverpool and Chelsea having their worst seasons but Newcastle and arsenal having their best seasons

It worked though, Richarlison played well and got a good assist, Son scored. Why do people twist the things he does right to have a go? It's pathetic
Said it to my dad that Richy looked like he was playing with a chip on his shoulder and a point to prove. Him and Son were much better yesterday. Shame Richy's goal didn't count, he had a good game and I enjoyed his link up play down the right with Porro.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

we were ahead of arsenal last season, and arguably had a better window, and yet it's a joke that we even contemplate winning anything? fuck off Antonio take an ounce of responsibility
Lucky that Antonio didn't read that or he might get upset.

We won. We played on the front foot. We won.
That is bullshit. I am very happy we got 3 points yesterday, I am not happy Conte still has a job, both are true. It’s a damning indictment of where we are as a fanbase if beating Forest makes it all ok, even for 7 days after the shit show of at LEAST the last 2 weeks.

I’m sure you’ll say otherwise, but it really comes across that you’re actually furious that we won because it keeps him in a job.

That may not be fair or accurate, but that’s what I take from yours and other similar posts

I think it’s more that it’s clear this isn’t even a dead cat bounce, because we know he’s going. We aren’t winning anything this season so it kind of makes all of this a little pointless.

I get that on one level. Personally though, Im just wanting us to play on the front front and get good results. Ill be happy with that for the rest of the season

We need more patience. Can't keep starting again all the time.
Patience is futile without a plan and more importantly ambition. Waiting 23 years there are no more patient fans than Spurs, any other of the top teams had the success we’ve had in that time there would be an uprising. We’re a top 10 wealthy club, a stadium that demands challenging for titles, we need no longer accept the chains the owners put on us.

If we’re just getting managers in for the aesthetics but ultimately the goal is CL money with the same strategies that have brought us little success ie giving the manager young players he doesn’t want or better still whatever random player happens to be available on loan or free what’s the point in patience? We’ll still not get anywhere and you’re just being patient for more of the same.

Asking for patience with owners that have a clear plan and are ambitious to reach the top is something altogether different…

Or he's not being fickle like some in this thread. Honestly, some posters here are quick to throw out neg ratings on people who maintain Conte isn't the right man regardless of a win over a shitty Forest. It's clear to anyone he's not the right fit, isn't going to commit to the long-term, and simply isn't what we need. And yet people like you have to have a dig at people being consistent. Who cares if we beat Forest? It doesn't take away from the shit football or going out of three cups against very beatable opposition. He has a worse record than AVB and is playing even worse football. One win doesn't take away from that.

I’m sure that is currently the case and makes the most sense. I will still say tho that if we start loosing badly and consistently he will leave sooner. Also, if he does see out the season there is zero excuse to not have his replacement lined up for the day after he leaves.

Makes sense. It was always hard to imagine him leaving sooner. Yesterday showed that whilst it wasn't a classic performance, the players are with him.

Thing is it's easy to have this mindset or to feel that it makes sense after a win. Prior to yesterday everyone was up in arms regarding him still being here. I'm not saying sacking him now is 100% the right thing to do, I just mean the perception changes so easily. If we fail to beat Saints and Everton away all of a sudden it will once again look like we need to change something to salvage the season.

I just mean that I agree in that keeping him now seems the right thing, but I don't know how I'll feel if we conjure up two shit away performances next, which is far from outside the realm of possibility.

I'm very sceptical regarding where we stand as a team right now. The performance yesterday even though good, didn't really change anything for me in that regard.
